Of course, the Accent is much more powerful and has more space, but if ownership costs lang ang tinitingnan, lamang ang Mirage.

Dapat laging apples-to-apples comparison. Accent will not get 16 km/L in the driving conditions that only gives the Mirage 8 km/L.

My girlfriend's dad's Accent gets around 12 km/L in light to moderate traffic (usual route is Fairview to Quezon City Hall and Manila City Hall). With the same traffic I'm sure the Mirage can do 12 km/L as well, maybe 10 km/L at the very least.

Pre... Kaya Nga nagtanong tanong ako... Kasi we don't own one... Wala kasi tayong clear cut comparison when it comes to FC between the two...

As my previous post... Yung isang napag tanungan Ko-- 8-9kpl Lang YuNg isa naman as high as 16kpl...

After NATIN ma tackle ang fc, Sa maintenance cost naman tayo...

Pero we need sana, Real world driving condition Na fc Ng mirage..

Like Nung sa accent daw na mixed 16kpl.. As previously posted..

    3. Accent turbo is finicky - as with all turbos, you need to observe proper cooldown and correct maintenance intervals to prolong the turbo's life. The Vios is just a run it till it dies kind of car. In other words, mas bagay sa balasubas na pagalaga ng kotse ng taxi driver ang Vios.

same here... baka mas ok ang vios kaso hindi hatch... i have a friend he got he's vios with only 25k kms. 2012-13 model ata for only 360k... pero nakasakay ako papunta kaming quezon lucena... still rides like new pa din naman...

My Fiesta Ecoboost has been my daily driver for more than a year already. On light traffic and lazy cruise of 80kmh in Skyway and SLEX, I observed the instantaneous dashboard readout displays 5L/100km. I also observed the same figures on such a passive driving mode in NLEX. However, I am not a passive driver most of the time. In my usual trips to Floridablanca and Clark thru NLEX and SCTEX with a cruising speed between 100-120kmh and some bursts of unlawful speeds, I was able to run 300+ km on half a tank of gas (around 20L).

On horrendous Sucat and Makati-BGC traffic, I average around 8 km/L with my lead foot. It is about the same as our 2009 Jazz 1.3L AT. Our 2009 City 1.5L AT is more efficient at around 9-10 km/L but both City and Jazz feels way boring to drive compared to the Fiesta Ecoboost. On light traffic, mixed highway and city driving is around 10-11 km/L.

Iba iba talaga lalabas na FC because everyone has different routes. You can read both Accent and Mirage threads to get a feel of the range of FC from both cars.

James Deakin also did a test comparing these cars (plus several other econocars). At least yun same driving conditions so apples-to-apples comparison:

The Philippines most economical car | James Deakin | Philippine Car News, Reviews and Motorsports

Laki ng difference diyan ng Accent and Mirage sa city driving but I doubt representative yan of real-world usage kasi di naman fulltank method and hindi naman over several runs.

I understand your pain, hindi talaga lahat ng car owners metikuloso sa pagmonitor ng FC. Walang data, walang proper methodology, puro tantsa, puro feeling.

I make it a point to log the FC of all my cars, laging fulltank method. Para pag may nagtanong, may masasagot ako na based on accurate data and hindi tantsa tantsa lang.

Just a clarification; when you say real world FC, you mean FC in heavy traffic, FC in light moving traffic, FC highway (nlex, SLEX) with constant speed? This means resetting the drive computer under those conditions?

This won't be helpful, like what jut has said, its subjective from one driver to another.

as for the threadstarter, 120k/day will probably result to a monthly average fc (for example mirage), over 15km/liter more or less.

I always fill up before going on the highway, and fill up again after leaving the highway. Full tank method.

For city driving, I just take note of the general traffic condition for the entire duration of my full tank. This is usually moderate to heavy traffic. Unfortunately my car doesn't log average speed (resets everytime you turn off the engine), but my previous one did.

I think the best way to really gauge the economy of a car is mag full tank method ng 3 or more times to eliminate any doubts.

    ---------
Since mahirap i gauge ang fc dahil ang daming factors. Why not mag concentrate na lang tayo sa pms cost. Siguro naman kahit papano fixed yan.

    *stockengine

Ha? Full tank method before and after and get your kms. Travelled divide it by total liters consumed.. And check mo ave. Speed mo kung meron...

Dun mo malalaman... Its more accurate.. Pero syempre we don't expect to get 100% Accurate..

Hindi na subjective Yun... Wala mang hila hula dun.. Actual numbers Na yun

It depends really on your budget and preferences. If you ask me, the best hatchback is the Golf GTi.

Hatchback (subcompact) choices for less than 1M:

Jazz - all-around performer, decent interior space, looks can be subjective

Fiesta Ecoboost - quickest, great handling, stiff ride, DCT scare, cramped interior

Mazda2 RS - quick, great handling, pricey, cramped interior

Accent CRDi DCT - turbo diesel engine, not much features, cheap-looking finish

Yaris - a Vios in hatchback form

There are only 2 compact hatchbacks available now - Mazda3 and Focus Ecoboost. The Mazda3 offers better handling but the Focus Ecoboost is quicker/faster. Both are a bit cramped compared to an Altis or Civic. The Golf 1.4T is a good package but it was phased out of the local market this year. However, a hatchback for around 1.1M to 1.3M is a tough sell knowing that most would buy a CUV or PPV or MPV instead. As good a compact hatchback the Golf GTi can be but it's too pricey (2.3M) for the usual Pinoy.

For the mini cars, maybe owners can chime in on the Mirage, Eon, Celerio, and Picanto.

    +1

Both the Mazda 2 and Mazda 3 have cramped interiors because the center console is protruding toward the rear passenger seat. It also does not help that the rear-center floor isn't flat:

For me, if there are only 4 adults at a time (including the driver), the cabin would be more than spacious. Kawawa yung 5th passenger, pwedeng naka-bukaka...

In the looks department, this is, certainly, the best for me

I can speak of the Mirage HB (GLX variant).

Well, it's spacious for a mini hatch -- spacious for passengers, but not for passengers + luggage. Five people can sit comfortably in a long drive.

This is something you don't want to run over pot holes, though (well, who does?). When I drive it, I'm being very careful with pot holes.

It's also quick, and fuel efficient

If you enjoy driving and has the tendency to flog your ride a bit, you will love the Fiesta Ecoboost. The small turbo engine loves to rev and it begs to be revved high. There is enough grip so you can utilise that torque to your advantage. The car is quick enough to out-sprint subcompacts, most non-turbo compact cars, PPVs, and low output CUVs. The car is heavy for a subcompact so it feels stable at high speeds (past 150kmh).

The suspension is on the firm side though, bordering on stiff, and the it has a low ground clearance. What the car needs is an additional set of ceiling handle bars for the rear passengers to hold on to especially if the driver likes to drive aggressively.

The car is good enough to seat 4 Pinoy-sized adults. Bigger people will not be comfortable on the rear. 3 can be seated on the rear if they are kids. If you're driving solo or with another person on the front passenger seat, it's a really great daily driver.
