If I remember correctly, Pensonic is an electronics manufacturer based in Malaysia. They used to be the factory where Panasonic outsourced their manufacturing to. After sveral years of doing business, they had a disagreement so Panasonic ended the contract. As the factory had already been producing Panasonic for a long time, they already had access to Panasonic's old technology so they used it to make Pensonic products. Panasonic has tried to do their best to run after them but Pensonic already has pretty good distribution in a lot of developing countries.

The factory in Indonesia that produces Panasonic manganese batteries also produce Sony manganese batteries.

Actually I settled for the cheaper 5" midrange of the CM series rather than the 6" midrange of the Series 800. The 6" was too big truthfully to be thrown on A-pillars.

Here's what the 5" dedicated midrange driver looks alongside a 2" full-range Dominations speakers.
I'm trying to imagine how you would have installed it on an A-pillar. Boy... How heavy is the 5' driver?

I didn't actually weigh it but it's probably equal to sub-Php10,000 6.5" midbass thanks to its huge ferrite magnet.

Truthfully, it's cheap at 6,000php per piece pero ang laki ng dagdag nila sa shipping.. haha. It seems the CM series uses ferrite as a cost-saving measure over the more expensive neodymium magnets found on the 6" FST of the Series 800. The 6" FST costs roughly 3 times as more thanks to skyrocketing rare earth prices.

I haven't actually tested it, but it shouldn't be far from how the 6" FST measured. The magic of the suspension is that it has very limited linear throw but it makes it up for this for its efficiency. While most car midranges has a sensitivity of 85dBs, these are 95dB-efficient. A figure attained because of very good magnet flux (magnet pull which increases sensitivity) and because of its surface area (a 5" has 2.7x more area than a 3" cone).

The problem when I competed kasi was that Thai judges were telling me I was hitting power compression at high-volumes on my midrange. This was causing it to lose detail and distortion is rising. The reason for this is that my aluminum billet enclosures doesn't have a lot of air volume and that lowers efficiency as you need more wattage to hit a certain dB. More wattage = more heat = less magnetism = power compression.

Anyway, to remedy it.. naghahanap ako ng efficient drivers. Problem is, there's no product in car audio that will satisfy my requirement of efficiency and low distortion until I came across B&W's midranges. To put their efficiency as an idea for you..

Give both speakers 2 watts and the FST = 95dB and the Focal 3W2 (Focal Utopia midranges.. roughly 30,000php per piece) = 85dB. Let's say I need to reach 100dB, this means I need a +5dB gain on the FST and +15dB on the 3W2. As power is exponential with regards to decibels, I'll need 63W on the Focal to reach 100dB while I only need 6W for the B&W. 50W of excess power is very hot.. ever touched an incandescent light bulb? Second degree burn na agad yan. And this is taken on their most efficient setting -- free air. Throwing them into an enclosure will further increase their power handling and decrease efficiency.

That's how you scream and shout. Audio is science naman.. not really hard not unlike somebody here na hindi alam bakit malambot at matigas tumunog isang speaker.. really productive twelve years he has.

Don't worry. I'm in touch with my inner geek. And I've always been into audio though I prefer 2-channel audio. 95db sensitivity? That's very sensitive. Lately I've been experimenting with class T amplifiers and trying them out with speakers that are <90db sensitive. Audio is really a science though after years of listening, I know that there is a threshold with the price to performance ratio since the improvements keep on getting smaller as you go up.

Going back to topic, JBL's reputation was built through years of solid audio R&D and tested through so many users both professional and enthusiast circles. I think the comparison between the two was like apples and oranges though I have to say that for car audio, JBL's performance isn't the same as what they produce for outdoor and home audio.

    Makiki-butt in lang...

Hirap talaga pag natapakan ang ego, lalo na kung may pinagmamalaki kang 12 years of experience. Talagang dito makikita who has more knowledge sa topic na ito. Even that newbie dito sa tsikot with 12 years of experience ay hindi ma-explain bakit matigas o malambot bumayo ang isang subwoofer.

JBL audio vs LL? JBL nalang with regards sa brand. That's JBL, may reputation na in car audio and home audio.

thats what you call it REBRANDING
