in my experience, as long as you get a decent pair of separates and don't feed it more power than what it can take, then it will sound better than stock. especially in the future when you add a high pass crossover, then you crank up the volume.

personally, if you don't have the cash and you don't intend to compete, don't buy the P12,000 and above separates, sayang lang.

you can get good separates from 5 to 8 thousand and it will be much better than stock. just remember that your stock speakers probably cost P1500 pesos lang maximum na yun.

SQ is very subjective kasi. my benchmark is clarity and lack of distortion. that is why my priorities are a decent set of separates. a sub and amps that can drive them with built in crossovers. for me, that is enough na, if you do not intend to compete or if you don't want to show off in the parking lot

thanks. i definitely do NOT want to show off in the parking lot. i don't even like cranking the volume in my stereo. hahahaha!

i just want the stereo system in my car to sound good. na-spoil na yata ako with my simple HT set up at home. and i think it would be unacceptable to spend more on my car speakers than on the speakers in my HT set up. so OK na siguro yung mga 5k-8k range.

i went to Autosport in megamall yesterday, and their JBL GTO series starts at P4,120.00. Maghahanap na lang ako ng other brands in the same price range.

pare, if you don't cranking up your car, this is what i suggest.

1) decent pair of 2 or 3 ways separates: max 8,000

2) 4 channel amp with built in crossovers. minimum of 4 x 50 watts with bridgeable rear channels.: max 12,000

3) decent 10 or 12 inch sub: max 5,000

total cost will be 25,000 plus 5,000 install and wires. okay ka na.

ito rin ang plano ko. i have had big ssems before: over 1800 watts rms, pero nagsawa na rin ako. balik lang ako small but clear system.

for beginners? In my case (old SUV) adding a powered sub-woofer would do. medyo bitin kasi bass pag stock set-up. pero ako lang ito ;)

i've never tried powered subs, but the one's i've heard have been disappointing.

called up one of the recommended shops, talked to its owner. for all-targa budget set up, P15k ang quote sa akin. he was really nice though, and took time to explain things to me.

ok lang ba na seps lang muna dagdag ko? i'm leaning towards JBL GTO (4k) or DLS (nasa 6.5k range). i wish i could afford the seps and amp thing, pero nasa 10-15k na yun. di kaya. i don't think i even want a sub, depende siguro how the whole thing sounds.

oo naman. pwede naman paisa-isa lang muna upgrade kapag di pa kaya ng budget ng isang bagsakan. give yourself the luxury of time to really find what parts you want ;)

go ahead and buy the separates first. then if you are not satisfied, get the 4 channel amp and sub. sa four channel amp and sub, you might want to buy second hand. maraming nag-uupgrade dyan. pero sa separates, better kung brand new (opinion ko lan gito)

Is it advisable to buy an amp in the US for use here? Ang apprehension ko lang naman ay warranty pag may problema. Kasi yung mga narito parang last year's model pa tapos mahal. Or may iba pa bang dapat i-consider?

What do you think of Comp VR 10 and an RF amp, maybe P3002, bridged 300Wx1? Dagdagan ko lang muna bass ang stock setup ko.

ok naman! warranty lang talaga ang magiging problema mo in the event something goes wrong. another would be the shipping of the unit, and the damage that might be sustained kung bara-bara yung courier.

Meron na bang naka-experience na nasira yung bili sa abroad? Meron akong nabili na digital cam sa HK ok naman hanggang ngayon, 1 yr na. Pero syempre na test ko habang andun ako.
