Mga sirs, hope i could also seek your advice in having a regimen in maintaining my car. It's brand new just like me... new on cars hehehe...

I'm thinking of availing the paint protect service from BB, however, I'd really want to be hands-on in keeping my car shiny. I'm a little bit OC, knows very little about car maintenance but very willing to learn. I'd really want to keep my car like new since I'm planning to keep him with me forever. I've back-read and picked-up a lot, though, if you could be specific on what to buy, which product to use and on what intervals should i use them (weekly, monthly, etc.). BTW, what I currently have are microfiber towels, a piece of chamois and a Microtex duster.

    Thanks in advance! =)

if i may add, since the condition here will require you to at least do weekly maintenance DIY, i would suggest you go for microtex products. see my reply above regarding this products. if you dont have time naman to do weekly cleaning and waxing chores, then go for the more durable but expensive products like mothers gold and meg ultimate products. if you can spend some more, then go for Collinite or klasse products, they claim their wax lasts for at least a month. i just got hold of my collinite wax and have not used it yet so i cant vouch yet regarding how long it will last.

palitan mo na din yang chamois mo maam, mas maganda (though pricey) yung microfiber towel ng microtex for drying purposes (yung gray na waffled texture) or yung chamois micro fiber nila. based on my experience, mahirap pang tuyo yang chamois kasi dumidikit sa body ng car at nakaka cause ng swirl marks. gamitin mo na lang yan chamois mo for drying the door sills, at singit singit ng hood and trunk.

you may also check the many video instructions and reading materials from the web site of megs, mothers, and other detailing forum for a more detailed and expert advice.

    Quick thoughts below.

    For washing:

    • Two buckets
    • Car shampoo - either of the Microtex shampoos would be a good inexpensive option
    • Two wash mitts - one for upper panels, another for lower panels. Again, Microtex provides good quality at reasonable prices
    • Brushes to clean the wheel wells, tires and wheels. The Mothers brushes do a good job, though you could probably get use cheaper household brushes for the wheel wells and tires (not the wheels though, as those will scratch).
    • Cheapo MF mitt/towel for cleaning behind the wheel barrels
    • Drying towel - I prefer using a waffle-weave microfiber rather than a chamois. The Microtex Elite or the Mothers large drying towel would be my choice here - they're large enough to dry a whole car with only wring the towel once or twice (or in my case, not at all).
    • Cheapo MF towel for drying wheels

For waxing, since you're going to avail of Big Bert's Paint Protection service, I'll recommend just a spray wax to top-up protection every two weeks or so. Among locally available OTC spray waxes, the best one is definitely Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax - reasonably good looks, does some light filling, and fair durability (two to four weeks), particularly for a spray wax.

I'd also get a quick detailer for removal of bird poop and light dust - Mothers Showtime is reasonably priced and offers good lubrication. Turtle Wax Platinum Ultra Gloss Detailer is also a good product. Another product worth considering would be Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer, though this one a bit more expensive.

You'll need some towels for spray wax and QD application. What I use is the pink Microtex plush - the medium-nap allows for easy spreading of spray waxes and quick detailers, while still offering enough fiber length to pick up dirt safely. Get three to five, so you can cycle through them as needed - and keep one in the car, along with some quick detailer, at all times!

For tire dressing, I'd pick Microtex Tire Black - nice looks (not super glossy, but just a hint of satin shine). Another good option, slightly more expensive, would be Mother's FX Tire Spray (this is the one I'm using right now). For application, just get a cheap kitchen sponge, cut into two or three pieces, and use to apply.

I think that about covers the basics you'll need to keep your paint looking well - hopefully this helps.

sir, i would suggest mag microtex nanosil and nano gloss ka na lang for weekly application. easier and much cheaper than mothers' or meg products. So parang Step 1 & 2 sa nanosil and step 3 yung nano glos. Very effective and glossy pero after one washing, kelangan na ulit apply kaya pang weekly routine sya. Then dagdagan mo na supply mo ng nano sliq para kung feel mo i-wax ang car mo anyday of the week, pwedeng pwede. fast and easy, 10 mins tapos na agad. Pero bili ka na din ng california duster kasi kelangan mo i-dust off yung car mo daily specially pag apply ka ng nano sliq to prevent swirl marks or hairline scratches.

Ive been using microtex products eversince. Gusto ko sana matry itong mothers. Same lang din ba quality nito? Medyo pricey kasi mothers so i was thinking mas ok ang quality nito.

Step 3 - it's non-abrasive, and will not affect anything you've already applied.

Collinite 476 is available at Autobisyo. It looks like floor wax but harder. A bit difficult to apply especially once it dries. The key is not to use too much as explained in the first post. It's supposed to last longer. I think kaya mo 'yan. If there's a will, there's a way. :D

since mas like mo weekly date to make hagod hagod your nate, then you'll be fine with the microtex products or mothers/megs. aside from the nano sliq, you can add nano sil and nano glos to your arsenal for weekly maintenance ni nate. wag ka na mag collinite kasi mas mahirap sa wax on - wax off thing. mas pang macho ang collinite maam. pang girly yan microtex products. wala din collinite sold in small bottles or sachet. kaya yung isang lata ng collinite would last for years. baka pag sawaan mo na sya eh di mo pa nauubos.

since nagpupunta ka namana pala sa professional detailers like BB, then sa kanila ka na lang magpa collinite or klasse, say once every 4 months. then weekly hagod hagod ka na lang using the microtex products. ayun, maintain and kinis, kintab at dulas ng car mo. yung sliq, pwede nga every other day yan kung feel mo lang mag pakintab ng car.

    here's what I do
    1. wash
    2. dry
    3. claybar
    4. mother's carnauba wax
    5. collinite 476
    6. nanosliq

meron ba mali or redundant sa mga steps? Do I need to allow curing time for the collinite before I apply nanosliq? thanks

If step 4 (mother's carnauba wax) is the pure carnauba and not the carnauba cleaner wax, I'd exchange the step 4 and step 5 - Collinite first, then pure carnauba after (most durable product below, beauty product on top). Let the Collinite cure for at least four hours, better eight, before topping - same with the Mothers carnauba. In fact, I'd just leave the NanoSliq until the next wash.

Expensive if you buy it here - the ones that are sold on Sulit are actually already cheaper than the only locally available DA, Meg's G220v2, which is being sold for 16k, without any pads or chemicals. If you really want to save money, you can buy it from the US, from sites such as Autogeek or Auto Detailing Solutions, then have it shipped via sea using a balikbayan box courier like pobox.ph or Forex. You'll pay around $30 to $50 on the added shipping (depending on the size of the box), but it'll still end up cheaper - and you can also buy the chemicals and pads and have them shipped on the same box. If you take advantage of the periodic sales that these online companies offer, you can get pretty good deals sometimes - recently saw the Griot's Garage DA on sale with 5 pads for $99, for example.
