My reply below refers to 2006-2011 Honda Civics only.
On the Civic 1.8V, the numbers and gradients on the RPM gauge, including the blue halo, is NOT actively lit when the parklight/headlights are off. Though, you can still see them when there's enough ambient light in the cabin (ie. daytime), but in total darkness (ie. basement parking, night time, etc.), you will need to turn on the parklights/headlights to be able to see the RPM gauge.
On the Civic 1.8S and 2.0S, the numbers and gradients on the RPM gauge, including the blue halo, are actively lit as soon as the ignition key is inserted. Even in total darkness (ie. no ambient light), the display is visible even when the parklights/headlights are off. But as soon as you remove the key, the illumination fades to black and you won't be able to see the numbers, gradients and the blue halo even if there is sufficient ambient light.
I hope this is clear enough.
Ang makikita mo lang sa umaga is yung digital speedo, yun lang yung actively lit.![]()
