I went to a shop to repaint my car which was involve in an accident. it involves two panels, the doors on th right side both front and rear. Now after getting it from ths shop, both panels was nicely painted and glossy as i have seen it...
However after more than a week, I notice among the repainted 2 panels, one is more glossy than the other, so i bring it back to the shop. the painter said " sir kulang lang cguro sa liha kaya di glossy, tapos rubbing na lang uli natin"
Guys or paint expert out there... what must have they done wrong for this to happen on my car? kulang kaya sa topcoat yan or what other can cause this? Thanks for helping me analyze what went wrong...

Damage repair... they have to let the paint settle a bit, then they have to buff it again. It's a common occurence.

May 7th, 2008 03:30 PM #4pasali naman, nagpahilamos ako ng sasakyan, sabi sakin nung head doon wag muna ibuff at patuyuin muna ng 45 days.. sa ngayon nakaka 1 week palang ako.. ganun ba talaga katagal yun para maging mirror finish or pwede na kahit 30 days lang? tsaka normally diba ibubuff muna ng isang beses tapos patutuyuin tapos ibabalik after nung curing time tapos ibubuff nila ulit para kumintab at magmirror finish? thanks

does that mean that let dry first before applying another coat? so basically there's no long term effect ito sa car paint finish, meaning this will not happen again say after 6 months??

May 12th, 2008 02:13 PM #7if i'm not mistaken, ang tawag ng mga pintor dyan ay nag-la-labong ang pintura. normal ata yan sa mga bagong pintang sasakyan. which is why karamihan ng mga paintshops will advise you not to have your car waxed within 30 days after getting it painted.
why it happens: ang explanation sa akin ng dalawang pintor (different paintshops) and dalawang detailers (different detailing shops) ay sumisingaw pa daw ang solvent ng pintura. in effect, nag-se-settle pa daw ang pintura.
solution: kelangan lang talagang i-buff uli.
this happened to my car when i had it washed over. within a month, naglabong siya. they just buffed it again. now, its been over a year and okay pa naman ang pintura.

Sa quality na yan ng paint.
My fender and front bumper was also repainted, makinis at glossy pa rin. Toyota Manila Bay did the 7 times repainting though after so many imperfections I pointed out.
