January 31st, 2010 04:06 AM #3311*morlack: im with chickselog on your questions
Step 1: is mainly for removing paint defects and oxidized paint by polishing/removing a very small amount of clear coat
Step 2: burnishes the paint to a high gloss by using ultra fine abrasives, its like an ultra fine facial scrub for the paint, at the same time hiding and filling very light scratches and swirls
Step 3: is the real waxing stage, usually when people refer to waxing it is this stage, this stage is where you apply the wax to protect the paint, now some formulations of course may vary
Is there such a wax that can be used on one application only?
For new cars you could use Step 3 only, and this is applied once a month for normal weather and preferable 2x a month during rainy season
When your cars paint start to age and start to dull, there this thing we call cleaner waxes or All in one waxes, these waxes are like the 3 steps i mentioned above formulated in one formula but however provides less results as compared to the 3 specialized products from above. However this is not suitable for new cars since it does contain polishes.
You could use step 3 as often as you want without making the paint thin, just as long as you use the proper applicator and apply it using the proper techniques, once done improperly by applying too much pressure waxing the car can actually thin out your paint, so in applying waxes don't put too much pressure.
Jmpet626 has a great article that you could read and help out a lot in learning how to properly care for your car, i would also suggest you learn about the 2 buckets wash method since it really does reduce the risk on inducing scratches and swirls on the paint
And lastly i agree with both of them with the recommendation of Step 3, its cheap and its huge, its easy to apply and remove while providing extra gloss and protection, its very beginner friendly.
Good luck on your new car!

You got PM.
The two QDs combined made a perfect combination. As I was going out of the house just this morning to move our civic into a shaded area, the vios was still shining like I just detailed it. When I touched it, my hand just slides into the paint, it was really amazing.. Too bad my Showtime QD is almost empty
Yup I used kerosene, that yellowish kerosene I was telling you about. It literally melted the asphalt and I was really amazed....and scared..
I left it for a maximum of 30-40 seconds kasi natakot na ako 1st time kong ginawa and napasubok lang. Because I was really removing the dried mud in the wheel wells and what the hell they just won't come off that easily. I diluted kerosene + dishwashing liquid and then scrub it using a hard brush. I'll post some pics later as I only borrowed the computer from my bro for a minute hehe.
Oh wait, did you say P80 for 2 buckets??Where'd you get that?
And goodluck on your detailing!

January 31st, 2010 04:43 PM #3315*morlack: yes its different, and you can't use mothers power polish on the glass, if you are looking for a polish for glass you could try mother chrome polish and there's a cheaper alternative, its brand is called d'best polish and you can find this in handyman stores.

Glass polish? using chrome polish? ive tried autosol in a small portion of my windshield but i had a hard time to remove the excess polish so i discontinue the usage. Ive tried this because ive seen a video that cleans glass headlight with the use of autosol.
OT: i really miss the site of tsikot forums. i need to avoid visiting the site while im in the office during my free hours because it gives me virus detection.

Question sirs: I just applied Carlack NSC to my car kanina. I'm planning to apply Collinite naman after the curing period (12 hrs or 24 hrs, I think). Before I apply the Collinite, do I:
1.) wash the car again?
Or
2.) clean it using QD?
before applying the Collinite? What do you guys do when you layer products after curing?
By the way, I drove the car around na kanina, but it didnt get dirty naman.
