*sir jm

June 30th, 2010 01:25 AM #52571.)Is is ok to skip the Step 1 then apply the Step 2 & 3? Or required talaga step 1?
Yes, step 1 is usually only used 2 to 3 times a year or depending on the condition of the paint
2.)If Step 1 is required, do I need to apply the clay? Medyo madumi kase bubong balak ko i-clay. Ano po mauna, Clay or Step 1?
Clay first then step 1
3.)May interval po ba pag-apply ng mga wax? Step 1 1hr then Step 2 ...etc?
From Step 1 to Step 2 and from Step 2 to Step 3 there is no waiting time, you just need to wait for cure times which is when you want to layer waxes and sealants.
4.) How do I remove watermarks on the hood?
That depends on what kind of water marks, if its just mineral deposits you could remove them with clay, but these are the light ones that can't be removed by washing, if its already etched you might want to use a polish already for that.
Btw, I have all the materials needed for the detail, except for the buffing machine. So wax, clay, sealer&glaze na lang hanap ko.
Wax - there are a lot of good waxes out there, actually Megs, Mothers and TW makes great waxes its just that nowadays some people really prefer to spend more and get more protection for their paint thats why collinite has been making raves, but for summer time all 3 wax companies have waxes that are great for maintaining the paint its just that the recent intermittent rains can really cause unsightly watermarks on the paint especially since you can have water splat on your car and dry up, up to 3 times a day lately.
For shine TW platinum and Mothers Step 3 are good, Mothers step 3 falls a little short on after washings but its still great especially the paste version, Megs has Gold Class which is like Moms Step 3 in terms of shine being easily washed but it looks really good on black, and of course there's Megs which looks great on all colors and has hydrophobic technology and can fill swirls, this of all OTC products last the longest but is also the most expensive. Microtex have also come up with a wax and i love its filling capabilities and its shine.
For glazes if you want an easy to apply glaze then go for Moms Step 2, but if you want better results you can go for 3m IHG but i don't always recommend that because its a PITA to remove.

June 30th, 2010 01:28 AM #5258Hmmm well i could say that recently the rains are a lot more erratic so i guess it means more water spots and all that, and yeah my multiple layer of m-seal and 915 is starting to wear thing since im seeing mineral deposits on my roof and some minor water marks but then again its been months since i've waxed that thing so its also due for its quarterly sealing and waxing.

June 30th, 2010 01:31 AM #5259Hi, we're still in the process of reviewing and comparing Opti-seal with KSG, Menz FMJ, M-seal and jett-seal, in terms of shine and durability, if the opti-seal proves to be very user friendly and could provide good results even if its a little lower than KSG then we might ship some over soon, but so far we have a panel left out in the rain for 1 month and its still holding up quite good, its just not as good in terms of sheeting as KSG but its still there and ease of use is a two thumbs up, you could seal you car in 30 minutes!

June 30th, 2010 01:34 AM #5260Yes m20 is the synthetic sealant, there's a better and more durable version which is the m21, you could also opt for that. As for making silvers look deep, that would require a really well polished and finished paint to make it stand out.
Yes after clay you could start using Megs UC followed with a very mild polish to remove compounding swirls, yes 8 hours is enough based on experience when it come to Megs sealants although this is based on a sunny day hehe, if its a little rainy better stick to 24 hours cure time, and yes you could slap on UQW after but i would recommend you slap on something thats a real wax not a spray wax so that paint is protected longer.
