*madkatz: polish pala yung step 2... ma'am, will using step2 regularly thin the clearcoat over time?

btw, I noticed some fine lines on our mazda2 earlier. Bubble gum pala!

I soaked the area with cooking oil, then massaged the gum off with my fingertip

nung natanggal na I dabbed the area with an MF cloth, then QD para matanggal yung rest of the oil

I'm sure natanggal yung wax dun sa area na yun, but I'm wondering if this was safe for the paint... don't have clay bar or kerosene to take it off

Yes Step 2 has ultra fine polishes, but these polishes are so fine that you could use this every month for the next 10 years and still have a lot of clear coat left, its that fine, so to answer you question yes it will thin your clear coat but its close to nil, and its purely safe for the paint and actually good too

As for what you did, its actually fairly safe since you didn't use kerosene or clay, chances are the 476 is still there except for the spot the bubblegum covered, so using a QD to remove the oil is good, you just need to apply some 476 again to that small area, wipe off and you're good, what you did is actually very safe for the paint.

I just want to caution people about something, Micro Magic produces really good products and at an affordable price, and for the price you're paying and the quality you're getting, their products aren't really the best but they're a bang for the buck. I would recommend nearly all of their products for those who are on a budget, but those i recommend are the MF cloths, the chamois, applicator pads, water blade and dehumidifier. Me and my BF were doing our quarterly detailing and its sure to last until tomorrow or monday even, and as i was doing the interior, i noticed my dehumidifier all spend, and so i decided to throw it out, then it hit me that i could actually use the container to hold my charcoal and baking soda mixture that i can put in my trunk so it stays dry especially nowadays its rainy season and so humid, so i went to the sink and removed that paper cover by tearing it open, i accidentally got some of the liquid inside on my hands and after washing the container and going for a little rest, i noticed that my hand was a bit warm, and then i started to feel a little burning sensation, i then noticed that the cuts and skin abrasions i had from engine detailing and from other procedures were starting to get painful and it really burns, and for a few minutes after it got a little worse but not really something i would scream about, its just uncomfortable, now its starting to subside and thankfully its goes away, if it doesn't i'll be heading over the a friend thats a dermatologist to have it checked, so to sum it all up

The dehumidifier really worked for my car, before it smelled awful with mold like smell and this coming out of the casa and toyota didn't even do anything about it, they'll just spray lysol and it would come back again a few days later, the dehumidifier i got from Micro Magic worked well for me for at least 6 months but im cautioning people with regards to handling the fluid inside it, be careful and avoid the stupid mistake i did, i guess its not meant to be handled and re-used, and once it gets to the skin it kinda burns a little, so take caution in disposing this.

By the way my BF helped me wash my hands and arm after this incident and after washing his hands with soap he rubbed his eyes and he said it also feels a little warm.

Damn that's scary. I have a question about that though, does it really take out the foul odor let's say I'm parked under the sun and then I get in the car and smell this kinda awful smell inside the car. It just smells bad. Parang galing sa mainit na upuan, siguro yung mga bacteria or something.

And where do you usually place the dehumidifier?

And btw, what does dehumidifier literally mean?

*madkatz: glad to hear you're fine, ma'am

caustic yung dessicants na ginagamit nila sa mga dehumidifier, so it can burn skin...

*Chikselog: it removes the moisture present in the air... so hindi masyadong tutubuan ng mold yung loob ng auto

I see. Thanks for that. May amoy kasi yung car kapag medyo warm yung loob and lalo na pag mainit yung interior. Parang galing siguro sa seats na puro bacteria at molds. I might try this dehumidifier thing. Where do you usually put it? Under the seat pwede na ba?

I usually use 1 whole box of baking soda with about 6 to 8 large pieces of charcoal, i put one can in the trunk and one below the passenger seat.

Well, its still a little painful, it was a little strong because when i went to my friend doctor she noticed my nail polish was also faded like it was poured with thinner, and i am surprised because the fluid didn't stay that long on my hand and arms and it was enough to remove some of my nail polish, its still feels warm until now, im applying some kind of cream thats used for soothing burns.

Now i know its caustic, haha i had to learn that the hard way, my BF is also all fine now, im also amazed to see that even when he washed his hands with soap it still kinda affected the eye area he rubbed.

I guess those things are really meant to be disposed safely, and im not reusing that thing again, im keeping the container i washed though hahaha as a reminder

Optimum No Rinse, its primarily a substitute for washing your car when you don't have enough water or is short on water supply, its a formula that basically removes dirt and makes it heavy enough to be wringed out when you dip it again in the water, the formula is fortified with polymers that makes the paint clean and makes it shine, its good enough to the point where it can be used as 4 different products, 3 different uses though, and as i've stated it can be used as a QD, rinseless or waterless wash, and clay lubricant.
