In addition to that..
I quote from Michael Stoops from
http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/sho...d.php?p=390667
Another reason why you should lift the bird dropping off of the paint rather than wiping, is because of how birds digest food. If you've ever had a pet bird you know that you need to add gravel to their food seed. Birds require gravel and/or even small stones to help them grind up and digest food, primarily seeds that are swallowed whole and need to be literally ground down in the gizzard. Inevitably, some of this gravel, sand or other abrasive particulate matter is going to be passed through their system and end up in that dropping on the hood of your car. Simply wiping the dropping off the paint can potentially lead to a grinding of this particulate against the paint, which is obviously not a good thing.

March 30th, 2010 04:29 AM #3574*Chikselog: the M20 sealant does have light cleaners, its a combination of natural and synthetic waxes, its cleaners are just enough to remove old layers of waxes and very very light oxidation, so the cleaning abilities can be very negligible. Its a very good sealant actually, lasts a long time, has great durability and has a very nice mirror like shine. If you are interested in this you might want to try JM's suggestion in getting the Carlack LLS, the difference between them are more on durability and looks, M20 looks better and a little warmer in my opinion where Carlack LLS has very sharp reflections, the Carlack LLS lasts a lot longer though.

March 30th, 2010 04:34 AM #3575*mada: QD's are generally used for cleaning the paint, whether for using it to clean contaminants like Tree Saps and Bird Droppings before it etches into the paint or simply for removing light dusts and giving it that newly detailed look. QD's are generally used on a dry surface and personally i use after i wash my car when im not waxing, if im waxing i use it after the waxing stage. You could use QD's for after washing just to add gloss but it does not offer any real protection. As for your Eagle One question, it would depend on what product you bought, is it the Wax As You Dry? Wipe and Shine?

March 30th, 2010 04:38 AM #3576*mj09: well a nice wheel well depends on a good cleaning, so you could hit it with some degreasers to loosen up those grime and then flush it away with water and use a strong concentration of shampoo with a nice soft brush. As for what product you could use, well you could use Megs Hyper Dressing, Megs Trim Detailer, Armor All Gel, and lastly Microtex Tire Black if its plastic. I actually use their Tire Black on Plastic and Rubber Trims, since its more of a rubber and plastic conditioner rather than a Tire Black, i'll post some pics later, Megs Trim Detailer and Mothers Back to Black are better but definitely more expensive. As for painted Wheel wells a good cleaners wax would be great.

March 30th, 2010 06:23 AM #3577Thanks Madkatz! I hope hindi ka magsawa sumagot dito hehe. It's like you own this forum hehe
If after waxing, let's say i'll use a QD next, hindi ba niya parang mababawasan yung layer ng wax? kasi diba QD is also used for cleaning the paint somewhat, so baka lang kasi maging useless yung inapply kong wax, kasi parang lilinisin lang siya ng QD if I use QD right after waxing. Just wondering.

Thanks for the inputs.. May Carlack LLS ba sa BigBerts? How much? So sealant siya na may light cleaners like Mother's step 1?
Kapag gagamitin ko siya it will be Wash - Carlack LLS - Mother's Step 2 and 3..? I hope they bond together properly hehe..
BTW Re: Wheel wells, what other cheaper degreaser brand can you recommend? Pareho kami ni sir mj09, panira sa picture ang maruming wheel wells hehe.. Before I tried a concentration of Kerosene and Dishwashing Liquid to no avail.. Very little lang ang na-remove niya, mas mahirap pa rito yung hard to reach areas kaya kailangan talaga ng degreaser.. Nagdadalawang isip kasi ako sa mga ibang OTC degreasers baka di sila effective..Last edited by Chikselog; March 30th, 2010 at 12:38 PM.

March 30th, 2010 01:10 PM #3579*mj09: Well we're all just trying to help out, i started out also as a noob.
With using a QD, well generally most QD's clean by lubricating the paint, i actually classify QD's into 2 different groups, cleaning QD's and Glossing QD's. I noticed that some QD's are better at cleaning and true enough may reduce the wax once applied improperly. And Glossing QD's are more for adding depth and has some oils in it. Cleaning QD's are like EO Wipe n Shine, OPT ONR used as QD, Megs Quik Detailer. Glossing QD's are like Megs Last Tough, TW Platinum QD, TW Ice QD, Megs UQD and Moms Showtime. Like i said both QD's can clean by layering a layer of lubrication to gently remove dusts and contaminants off the paint, cleaning QD's just offer better lubrication whereas Gloss QD's offer more of a better look. TW Platinum and Megs LT are both good at cleaning and glossing. Generally with applying any QD the right way to go would be to apply it with very VERY light pressure pretty much like just the weight of your hand and wipe in across the paint. It doesn't matter if you don't remove everything just give another wipe and buff it lightly to a nice shine. What i see some people do wrong is that they apply pressure directly towards the paint not across the paint, while this makes removal easier it is also safe to say that even though what QD you use and how much lubrication if affords, it is the pressure of your hand against the paint that removes that wax. QD's help by making it easier for your hand to glide across the paint actually, so it all boils down to how you use QD.
Hope this Helps, i don't know i explained it properly hehe

March 30th, 2010 01:25 PM #3580*Chikselog: Yes they have Carlack LLS, its around 1.4 to 1.6k i think? The M20 has very light cleaners but not as good as Step 1, if thats what you are asking. The Carlack LLS is a pure sealant and it does not contain any cleaners.
If you are going to use it, it should be Step 2, LLS and then Step 3. But i guess it might give you some bonding issues though since the Step 2 has some oils in it and this might cause LLS to not bond properly to the paint. If you want to apply a sealant on your car, you could do 2 things
1. Apply Step 2 as you normally would, do a 50/50 IPA wipe down ( just dilute 50% Isopropyl Alcohol with 50% Distilled Water, spray it to the paint panel by panel and wipe it dry ) to remove the oils, it will still give you that extra gloss from Step 2 and the added filling properties, this just removes the oils, then apply LLS, wait for 24 hours to cure properly ( its important not to drive the car around so you don't have to re-wash ) then do a QD wipe down to clean the car and apply the wax.
2. Apply Step 2, Get the Carlack NSC instead ( it also offers a nice gloss but has a little less durability than the LLS but still good ) and then go directly to Step 3.
As for Degreasers, Simple Green MAX is good, I use Mark V Degreaser as well as a degreaser i bought via carbouy locally and both works well, though i have Megs and other products i just save them for euro cars but honestly its all the same for me, it all boils down to concentration actually. What i normally do is spray kerosene and let it sit for about 2 minutes and then re-spray the wheel wells, and then wait for 3 to 5 minutes depending on when i see the asphalt melt and drip down. The thats the time i spray the degreaser to remove the kerosene and then soak the grime up for about another 5 minutes before i use a extended handle brush and work the grime out. I finish it up with either dressings or cleaner waxes, depending on the surface of the wheel wells.
