    Awesome job!
How hard/easy was it to work with 3M IHG?

3m ihm - you have to really apply it very very thin, or else you'll have a hard time buffing it. there were some parts na medyo makapal ang lagay ko and to my horror, i thought hindi na matatanggal ung haze nya! Buff tuloy ako to the nth power. hay!

i spent about 4 hours and after that, i just slept the whole day! sakit ng arms ko i swear! (Its my first time to wash and wax my car. first time car owner din kasi. black '09 city).I read all the pages in the detailing thread before buying the products i used. plus i asked the owner of our suking neighborhood carwash too. every weekend i wash and wax my own car, exercise ko na rin kasi (mag-1 month na). but darn it, im too tired to go out on a date afterwards! tulog na lang ako sa bahay after.

    Hi.

Nice car. Congrats also on the results. Very responsive talaga ang black paint kapag inaalagaan.

If you want to save a step in your detailing routine though, just apply either the megs wax or the mothers top coat after the 3M glaze. Either wax will give good results.

    Hope this helps.

    ooops, i meant 3M IHG not 3m ihm.....sorry......

    *jonjon

actually, i have 3m glaze (sachet try lang because i read nga mahirap daw i-buff ito and its true!), 3m SCLW (sachet), Megs Deep Crystal Carnauba wax, Mother's Reflections Liquid Wax, Mother's Reflections Top Coat, and the TW Zip wax car wash.

The owner of our suki carwash told me i can apply mother's top coat once a month. tapos ung mother's liquid wax and the megs carnauba, either of the two gagamitin ko or use them both for a deeper finish.

i just tried to follow what ive learned here (o di ba, i read all 187 pages!!!!)

so after the glaze, EITHER the wax or the top coat na lang ilalagay ko? Hindi ba magkaiba ung wax and the top coat? 2 weeks ago i just applied mother's liquid wax because i read its easy to buff off and its really true! then last weekend i used the glaze, megs wax and mothers top coat combo (for the first time), and ayun lupaypay ako after waaaaaaaah. il probably do the glazing once a month. nakakapagod sobra.

btw jon, everyday pala i cover my car at my place of work. dami kasi mga bata and i noticed hairline scratches which i know is inevitable. but then again, my way of thinking is: better those hairlines scratches which can be removed thru detailing than risk someone keying my car resulting to a paint job. what do you think? (geeez il have to cover my car forevermore???? or at least for another 10 yrs.....)

Same yung function ng Megs Deep Crystal Carnauba wax at ng Mother's Reflections Top Coat in that they're both designed to be "last step products". Personally, I think there would be no benefit in both using them after the glaze.

With regard to the car cover, you may use one for your situation. Just take note of the downsides. For instance, you wouldn't want to put it on if the car is very dirty/dusty. Also, you wouldn't want the rainwater to dry up while the car cover is still on. It would mostly be a judgment call on your part.

    Hope this helps.

    On the car cover --

If it's not raining, you should try removing the dust from the car before putting the cover on. Otherwise, you'll also get the swirls . You may want to invest in a Cali Car Duster for that.

i couldnt find ccd so i bought the microtek brand. i use the duster every morning plus a QD. Still, hindi pa rin maiwasan magkaroon ng hairline scratches and swirls yung car. But then again, i wouldnt want to risk a looooong malalim na gasgas......at my place of business, may katabi kasi kaming squatters with a bunch of kids. kakairita minsan, naglalaro sa tabi ng car ko, nag hahabulan, hinahawakan ung car, etc., at least with the cover on, may protection ung car kahit paano. besides, i noticed that the kids enjoyed their reflections sa side ng car (during one day na hindi ko na cover ung car resulting to a 4 inches scratch on the hood grrrrr!).

Also, in *many* cases, fine scratches and spiderwebbing on the paint come from *improper* washing and drying.

Here's one very good guide for proper car washing:

From my experience, nag-iwan ng mga hindi magagandang marka sa paint ang basang car cover na natuyo ng araw.

    Many things...
    - The dried up water will cause the car cover to slightly stick to the paint. When you remove the car cover, there's a very big chance that you'll introduce a lot of scratches.
    - If the car plastic (polyester ba? -- the silver ones), the water + heat of the sun will cause some chemicals from the plastic car cover to seep out and mix with the water. This will then dry and possibly stain the paint.

Mother's. I think it's between 700~800php for one kit. One kit comes with a clay bar, a QD spray (to lubricate the clay bar), and a small bottle of cleaner wax.
