Actually I have seen some water and lpg delivery service vehicles using soemthing similar to it. I even saw a softdrink company using this as delivery vehicle to areas with narrow roads.
The engine is only slightly bigger than what is used on tricycle with side cars so it won't be fast so it cannot be used on the highways.

It's main purpose is cargo/utility but it can be used to carry people as well.
I would think it would be better suited than the typical tricycle which is just a retrofit to a standard motorcycle. It can carry more people (4 to 6) with better comfort than the supposed anorexic two adults a standard tricycle sidecar is supposed to be able to carry.

I remember, we used one of those with an open top when we delivered a refrigerator to our place. It pulled pretty decently, but I wouldn't recommend regular overloading 'coz the engine sounded heavily strained when we used one back then.
Given its setup, I think it could comfortably seat 4 people plus a few bags. The model with a reverse gear (used by Coke) would be nice as a shuttle in a big subdivision.
