help: increasing temperature engine

Hello! Just recently, biglang tumataas yung level ng temperature sa thermostat. 1 month na mula nung pinacheck sa Honda QC yung 2003 Honda CRV. Okay naman yung kotse, until just recently.
Nung nasa Eastwood, nirefill ko yung coolant sa maxlevel tapos nilagyan ng tubig yung radiator. Okay na ulit yung temperature, until malapit na sa may west Avenue na - pumupunta ulit sa H yung reading. Pagdating sa West Avenue (around 30min-drive), tiningnan yung coolant level, mababa na siya ulit. Yung tubig, mababa na din ulit.
Ano kaya problema? Leak? Pero bakit ganun? Kakacheck lang a month ago sa Honda, eh wala naman silang nakita na problema.
Naisip ko tuloy na wag na dalhin sa Casa.

Saan po kaya pwede ipaayos yung sasakyan, malapit sa West Avenue o kaya UP? Sana yung reliable and affordable po sana. Hope you can help! Thank you.

Sounds like a leak, definitely. And only while running hot. You can sit the car in the garage and run it and look underneath for where the coolant is leaking. Better if you have a companion who can rev the engine, as sometimes pinhole leaks in hoses don't show unless you put more pressure through them.

As you've said, the problem appeared only recently so how come you're blaming the dealer from services performed last month? Unless each part of the engine undergoes microscopic inspection, there's always that certainty that something will break sooner or later. Casa service typically does not include specialized services (ie. compression tests, cooling system pressure tests, oil analysis, etc.) as part of their PMS bundles. These are usually done only when either a) there are indications or symptoms of the problem, or b) the customer specifically asks for the said service(s) to be performed. Otherwise, they just do an ocular for leaks and keep an eye out for worn or defective parts.

On to the problem: Overheating engines almost always points to a stuck thermostat valve. If you haven't replaced it since 2003, this is the first thing to do. 2nd, use Honda OEM coolant with the correct coolant/water mix ratio. Don't just use plain water (tap, filtered or distilled). The coolant has far more important jobs than just raising the boiling temperature. It's there to slow down corrosion and lubricate the water pump, among many others. But don't just pour in any kind of coolant. The wrong coolant will destroy your cooling system. Hence, my insistence on using Honda OEM. Get the Type 2 if you can get your hands on it. Otherwise, use Type 1 coolant as this is the one available from most Honda dealers.

Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated. Do you know a reliable car service where I can have this repaired? Near West avenue or UP if ever. There are a lot along West ave, but I don't know if they provide good service. Thanks.

Okay. Thanks for your response. Not really blaming the dealer, I just wondered why it wasn't detected. But like what you said, they don't usually check these parts unless the customer asks for it. Thanks for this info. Much appreciated. If ever, do you still advise that the car be checked in the casa? Ever since 2003, the car is checked by Honda. I was just wondering if there's a better/more affordable yet reliable service center than Casa. Any recommendations?

May not be a leak. Makikita mong may tulo yan sa garahe pag leak. Baka tumapon ang tubig sa sobrang init. Check mo kong gumagana ang pump at fans.

Okay. Thank you! May leak after travelling, pero sabi nila dahil sa aircon lang yun. Nung tiningnan ko naman, tubig nga lang. I'll try to find out how to check pump and fans. Di ko kasi alam yun dahil first time driver lang ako. Thanks for the tip. I'll try to search more about it.

Its a 2003 model, its got some city miles on it. So a month may seem an eternity when it comes to problems popping out. Likewise its a possibility it wasn't properly replaced during the last work done on it.
