free po ba check up ng radiator sa mga shops.
i just saw that my radiator has rust in it. there's even a chunk blocking one of the pipes. you guys suggest replacing it?
tubig kasi gamit eversince nadatnan ko yung vehicle, and that's 11 years ago. gusto ko sana palitan ng coolant (premix) kaso paano ba proseso nito?

In theory you can have that cleaned using a radiator flush. If that dissolves the sediments you should be fine. Replace with pre-mix coolant.
Problem is when you "overhaul" you end up poking through the tubes and then risk abrading it, you'd be prone to leaks later and downtime.
So the prudent sense is to replace the radiator.
nice thread, kulang na la ng coolant additive package guidelines para sa all Al, Cu/Brass with lead solder.

Coolant additive packages are normally applicable for extreme and/or heavy duty applications.
Any gains are marginal with the current long life coolants actually employed.
For mixed metal coolant environments, stick with a glycol based coolant. Organic acid based coolants are more prone to cause nominal corrosion in the presence of a current.
I have a seldom used 9yo kia picanto. My sister used it last weekend and experienced overheating. She said she noticed the aircon wasn't cooling for some time and later the red temp sign lit up. She Took it to the nearest gas station and they just topped up the radiator with regular water. The aircon ran back to normal and she was able to go home. I checked today the coolant reserve level and it is full so probably no leaks. It also ran fine this afternoon when I used it for an hour with a/c on.
Should I have the coolant flushed and replaced? I'm worried the car might overheat again. I just bought 1L of abro ready mix coolant at a hardware shop (recommended over prestone). Is this enough? Can i just add distilled water? Planning to DIY coolant replacement tomorrow
thanks in advance for your advise

I flush mo na yan dahil nahaluan na yan nang tap water from the gas station.
Normally, may knob kang pipihitin sa ilalalim nang radiator para madrain ang laman.

Copy pero ok lang ba 1 liter premixed plus distilled water? Or dagdagan ko ng ibang brand like petron? Checked sa net mukhang 3.8l capacity ng picanto.
Depends on your preferred concentration level, you might need more.

i don't think so.
if the cooling system works fine, that reservoir won't need any top-up for a long time.
i haven't added coolant in my vehicles in over a year now. one of them is 10 years old (topped up once or twice only, from new)... one is 1.5 years old (still haven't topped up)..
look for leaks. look for under-performing aux fans. look for dirty radiator exterior.
err... what vehicle, po?
Any comments on fabricated brass radiators? Wala kasi available sa casa, mag import pa daw, 2 months waiting time. May leak na kse between sa plastic top at aluminum part. Would you suggest temporize muna with epoxy while waiting or replace na with fabricated brass radiator sa evangelista? Orig radiator 14k, fabricated brass 5k lang. TIA
Replacement na plastic/aluminum, i think around 3k or less lang ito. Marami sa Banawe
