    Masters,

    Last year I bought a toy car for my wife, its a 2000 Kia Pride GTX AT. So far, all of the mechanicals are running smooth & well. My only problem is the radiator fan which activates only when the temperature is already very high (almost near the overheat mark). There's no problem if you turn On the AC as the radiator fan runs with the condenser fan. I already tried replacing the thermo switch with a replacement and original brand (tried 2 different sets), but to no avail. Radiator has been cleaned too, and i'm currently using distilled water with coolant. By the way, the thermostat valve was also intact and replaced with OEM last December.

    Is there a lower temp rated thermo switch I can buy? Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Baka puwede i-fix na lang radiator fan sa pag-andar nang makina para sabay na. Or direct mo na lang at i-bypass mo na thermo switch.

    Baka puwede i-fix na lang radiator fan sa pag-andar nang makina para sabay na. Or direct mo na lang at i-bypass mo na thermo switch.

    Pwede ka magdesign or magpadesign ng circuit na kapag umaandar ang alternator saka lang aandar ang radiator fan mo. Current sensor lang yan. Ampangit kasi nung design na nasa engine on ang switch ng radiator fan.

    Have you check its thermo sensor, for the temp gauge? Accurate or within specs pa kaya? When you activate your A/C, does your temp gauge reads normal range or not?

    Thermo switch is for radiator fan.
    Thermo sensor is for temperatue gauge.

    Fan thermo switch-radiator fan

    Coolant temperature sending unit-temperature gauge

    Coolant temperature sensor-input to the pcm(may also be decision factor to turn radiator fan on)

    i am not familiar with the fan set-up of your kia, but is it really controllled by thermoswitch (if it is, the fan should kick-in after reaching the pre-set temp value)? my guess is, it might be controlled by the ecu based on coolant temperature sensor. do you have 2 fan relays on the fuse block?

    Possible faulty relay bro. Check mo din wiring from thermo switch going to fan

    Bro try mo i ground yung temp sender wire sa body and check kung hangang saan gauge mo. Dun mo makikita san kalahati ng gauge. Yung iba kasi nagloloko and sobra sobrang doble sa high ang reading

    On killed in action aka KIA the radiator fan is controlled by the PCM through the coolant temperature sensor input. You can test this by grounding terminal 2 of the data link connector(BLK/GRN) wire or grounding terminal 86 of the radiator fan relay

    kung ako iyan ibbypass ko na pcm. hehe....marami namang source sa internet regarding the simple schematics of the fan

    yan ang problema kapag may sariling utak ang sasakyan. hehehe

    yun lang e mas madaling itroubleshoot provided may scanner ka.

    That's the problem. We immediately resort to nigger rigging or mcgyvering rather than doing the correct diagnosis and repair

    Thank you very much for accommodating my queries, and sorry for my late reply as I've been busy these days and was unable to access Tsikot (the entire internet actually ). Anyways, to answer several questions above, yes, I already did a radiator overhaul (inside and out). Thermo switch has been replaced twice already, original and generic brand tested. Relays have been replaced also to Denso brand as the original exhibits abnormal heating. Wiring's along with the relays has also been checked and even conducted soldering to manual spliced connections. One thing I haven't tried is the grounding of the temp sender as what Sir Jick and Sir Zen has suggested. I was thinking before of directing my fan to the electrical source but very hesitant as this will wear my fan prematurely. Plus, the electrical load will reflect to additional fuel wastage. I will try you suggestions and will update this thread.

    Thermo switch ba may problema pag mahina umikot ang rad fan at aux fan? Ok nman yung fan pag naka unplug sa thermo switch. Ok din naman mga relay ko.

    ang sa pagka-intindi ko, ay on and off lang yang fans na yan. walang half-speed.
    i-kumpara po nyo sa bagong unit ang lakas ng buga ng hangin, at baka makita nyong mahina na talaga yang fan nyo.

    pansin ko ho kasi pag mag on yung rad fan ko, normal speed. pero pag naka on na yung aircon mabagal na ang pag ikot ng rad fan ko, pati yung aux fan mabagal din. so habang umiikot yung dalaw, tinanggal ko yung plug sa thermo switch, ayun bumilis ang ikot at dinig mo yung whirring sound, pero pag ibabalik ko uli yung plug humihina uli pag ikot.

    Una, kapag binunot mo ang plug connector para sa thermo switch, dapat hindi aandar yan. Pangalawa, sa sinabi mo kapag mag sabay na umandar, humihina takbo ng fan pareho. May madagdag kapa sa koneksyon na electrical load sa maling pagkaka wire nyan, tiyak hihina pa ang andar ng parehong fan. Obserbasyon ko. May mali sa wiring, pati ang ginamit na gauge para sa wire.

    Use seperate relay on each electrical device or motor.. ️Most probably yung Aircon blower or compressor mo sa relay din ng aux fan nakakabit kaya they share the same power.. It's just my opinion...
