Btw, I do notice this smell in a lot of recent cars. a '06 CRV I used once is also like this. Our '06 Fortuner is also the same. Btw, after I added a new toyota cabin filter, the smell disappeared for like a day before it came back again.

Yes, turning the a/c off before reaching destination has no effect on mine either. The initial a/c startup still stinks.

Definitely there is something that is not drying up inside the aircon system. I read somewhere that it is the condensor? fins?. It is bec. of moisture that causes bacteria? (which might explain the foul smell) to form.
