April 23rd, 2009 08:47 AM #1Becoming a tourist in one's country. What's the best car to bring the entire family on a trip around the Philippines.
Going North to the Ilocos...to Boracay...to Bicol....to Bagiuo....to down South to Davao City, passing the SRNH or Maharlika, what should be the ideal car or vehicle to bring along and with all the kids, camping gears, pots and pans etc etc.

Diesel AUV or MPV. Better kung 4x4 SUV or 4x4 pickup.
Sometimes kasi, " what roads"

Yes, diesel is the way to go. aside from being fuel efficient and lower cost per liter, it is available everywhere. have driven the luzvimin route quite a few times and i experienced a bit of difficulty looking for unleaded fuel when i was driving a u.s. version suzuki samurai. unlike when i was driving a hilux, looking for diesel was not a problem. hindi naman masyado kailangan ng 4x4 kasi paved naman ang roads, pero kung meron ka 4x4, it would be an advantage if you get in to sticky situations, especially when it rains. SUV or AUV would be great para may space for your gears and your kids. they would need some entertainment kasi boring yan sa kids pag long drives. ("are we there yet?") dvd player will help. or game consoles. bring plenty of music.
kaka inggit. sama ako. have fun and be safe!

SUV. para hindi na mamroblema para sa canopy ng pickup. More seats rin if ever needed.
But if you're worried that the cargo might soil the interior, pickup na.
Personally, gusto kong ipangprobinsya e yung XC70 na station wagon...
Wishful thinking: Pag may expedition na 14 km/li ang konsumo, that's it right there!

We are 7 all in all. My ride is the Honda City 2003 IDSI 1.3CVT.
Only 5 will go the 2 big ones will not.
I'm afraid of my small car. It lasted for 5 years here in Gensan, it may not last the journey to Ilocos Norte.
I'm still imagining the possibility.
Innova j manual diesel? No. The clutch too hard for my arthritic knee.
I'm eyeing this used Starex AT crdi grx 2006 in one car dealer here.

SUV na yan especially if you're in to offroading. Diesel siyempre para fuel efficient
Ok na yang starex at least pang family diba?
In 5 years, the technology will be different, and maybe cheaper.
Mitsubishi Xforce
