In the news recently, several planes bound for naia got diverted to clark for various reasons.

My question is what happens to the passengers? Will the airlines ferry the passengers from clark to naia? or are the passengers left on their own to find their way back to manila?

    Anyone who experienced this already?

usually pag ni divert.. hintay lang nila gumanda yung panahon.. then lipad ulit sila sa manila.. pag matatagalan... sagot nang airline yung hotel accomodation.. then flight back to manila the next day..

what i am interested in are the flights diverted from naia to clark. will the airlines bus the passengers to manila? or are the passengers left on their own? or will the planes fly back to naia weather permitting, meanwhile passengers are stuck at clark and have to wait it out and stay at the airport until such time as planes are allowed to land at naia?

If final destination is NAIA and diverted to DMIA then hintay lang sila sa DMIA nasa loob ng plane until situation in NAIA becomes better, proceed to NAIA. kung mahabang paghihintay due to some circumstances then airline provide ng hotel accommodation (as per IATA rules) then fly to NAIA the following day.

Airline will not bus the passenger to Manila. airline will fly to it's final destination together with passenger.

thanks for clarifying, qwerty and shakatak70.

sometimes you cannot help but think that this country is moving backwards.... slight rain, fog or want not and planes cannot land immediately.....

i can imagine the inconvenience this causes to travelers. especially if for example your plane gets diverted to clark and you are not allowed to disembark from the plane while waiting for weather permitting conditions at naia.

question, are airlines required to offer hotel accommodation if the reason for the delay or cancellation is of natural causes? alam ko kasi e kung kasalanan lang talaga ng airline like mechanical failure, pilot strike, etc. kaya yung sa volcanic eruption sa iceland, sa airports natulog mga stranded passengers.

as far as i know, anything that falls under force majeure, the airlines will not cover or reimburse you. but different airlines have differing tolerances and some are just more generous than others.

Oo nga bro.,- we pass by Multinational Village at least once a week and we noticed that the runway has an unusual level of fog/smog(?) lately.

Could this be the cause of the diversion?

A resident of Multinational Village can probably check in his own observation here.....

May nasirang equipment ang NAIA which prevents planes from landing there when there's near zero visibility. Kaya a lot of flights are being diverted to Clark.

Saw in the news that the passengers of CebuPac were very furious dahil iniwan nalang sila sa DMIA on their own. Bahala na sila kung pano sila makaka-uwi ng Metro Manila.

I don't know about PAL passengers kung pinabayaan din or nagprovide ng transpo back to Manila.

pag Cebu Pacific, huwag na kayo umasa..they are the worst airlines, I never ride with them. I don't care if they have the "cheapest" fares.

makukulit lang mga relatives ko dahil mura daw eh lahat yata ng sinakyan nila sa Cebu Pacific eh delayed.

yikes 8 hours inside the plane... wala pang aircon. i'd imagine some very irritated passengers. i'd rather that airlines let their passengers go on their own ex clark than wait for 8 hours inside the plane and fly back to naia.

What happens when inbound flight is diverted to clark?
