    Arroyo declares May 2 non-working holiday

    PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has declared Monday, May 2, a non-working holiday, her spokesperson said Friday.

    “In keeping with official practice and to allow our workers to have more time with their families, President Arroyo declared May 2, Monday a non-working holiday throughout the country,” Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said.

    May 1, Labor Day, falls on a Sunday.

    As part of "holiday economics," Arroyo declares holidays on weekdays if official holidays fall on weekends.
