We buy luggage pieces in SM or Landmark. We don’t spend that much on the more premium brands. They hold up pretty well over time.

oldest check-in luggage we have is 4 years old... napahaba lang life nya thanks to wheel replacements and Covid-19
normally min-3 trips per year
about that warranty... believe me, walang silbi yan.
was never ever able to claim... they will either ask you to claim from the airline... or travel insurance

I have generic luggage that's actually 4 years old now. I expect my branded luggage to last longer, though only time will tell. I'll revert back to this thread in 10 years. [emoji6]
For warranty - I think it's clear in the warranty document that airline damage is the airline's responsibility and not the manufacturer.
Sample:
Hence why paying for better quality from the get-go reduces the risk of damage when your check-in luggage is thrown around haphazardly.

My current large size luggage is running 5 years with around 12 to 16 connecting flights a year. Emphasis on the connecting kasi i'm sure they handle it differently kapag time bound lalo na pag hot transit.
And i always maximise my luggage for those PH goodies like mang tomas, 3 in 1 coffee, and etc. Parating sagad at 29 t9 30 kg.
Surprisingly maayos pa naman. Although mejo nagsasawa na ako sa ichura.
Penguin brand by the way. Bought it for 100 CAD at 70% off last 2016.

I bought a set of original delsey luggage last year in China from a supplier, 3 pieces in a set (20/24/28 inches), lightweight, secured zipper and most importantly, price is cheap, not a spinner wheel though, only 2 wheels but hey, for the price, who's complaining, hehehe.

Penguin as in the polo shirt brand? I didn't know they made luggage, that's a really good deal at 70% off!
Mas mura nga talaga bumili abroad, hanap hanap lang deals so dapat hindi nagmamadali bumili. Nadale ako diyan last year, I needed medium luggage for a trip na medyo rush so had to buy locally kaya 25% off lang.

no, sure ako dito... first time I experienced the 23KG limit (kahit na 30K allowance ko) was going to Sydney years ago... naaalala ko na Airport Union will not allow the staff to carry overweight bags.
then unti-unting sumunod Asian countries
Kaya yung oldest bag ko (mentioned earlier) is also our last 28inch bag.
