i have watched the post of the dimplestar bus that tried to tread flooded road. the driver took the risk with his passengers in the bus. very risky indeed.
what if, on flood prone roads the department of public works and highways make depth markings on power poles alongside the road? the marking will be in feet or meters from the finished road surface so as to inform drivers how deep the water is and have the drivers make decisions whether their vehicle will be safe traversing the flooded road. the markers will inform drivers who have not traveled that road before or have not traveled that road when it is flooded

nice idea partner...well in some part of Manila the brgys.. have marked their streetlight poles with paints. Sort of a flood depth gauge when is it time to Evacuate. Would be nice if it will be put in National Highways which are prone for flooding. SLEX /NLEX should put those markers na.

in this "Dimpol" case the driver saw some people wade thru the flood so he used those people as flood depth gauge

hanggang tuhod lang yata so he thought kayang kaya ng bus niya

what he didnt take into consideration is water current

And that is the more important thing to consider.

Wala kasing brain depth gauge sa pag screen ng mga PUV drivers.

Yup. As I pointed out here:
Survival Guide: Driving Through Floods 101

It only takes 9 inches of water to carry away a vehicle.

Walang "bigat bigat" yun. A bus is simply a hollow metal box filled with air. The current will carry it away.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

didn't know some areas already have that, why can't the department of highways catch on? not enough pork barrel?
