This is one regret I have in my life. I should have migrated when i had the chance (twice!) before but the thought of going out of my comfort zone and starting a job from scratch scared me. [emoji26]

Canada is my 2nd choice because it's the 'safest'. And you're not gonna feel homesick because of all the pinoys there. But yes, BC is kinda boring. Boring in a sense that there is nothing to do outside the house.

Just hangout with a friend in tokyo who's been there for 3 years. Married to a Japanese. According to him, grabe daw racism sa kanya ng ibang tao. Masarap maging tourist lang daw. Even names ng kids nya kelangan tunog japanese

AU. Stayed there for a couple of months. People are courteous unlike here. Plus, if you feel homesick, 7 hours lang ang byahe. Medyo mahal nga lang ang cost of living.

I am not aware of the racism in Japan. Are there particular areas where this is rampant?

In my experience, being friends and meeting new acquaintances with business owners and employees as well, they're very open to migrant workers. This is in Nagoya (at least). The language is a barrier but being around locals 24/7 makes it faster to learn. I mean, have you tried going to (Jap-inspired) KTV bars in Malate? Ask some of the ladies how they learned Japanese so fluently Hehe

But kidding aside, Japan's culture I think is adaptable.

My wife and I spent a considerable time in Japan. we studied for our masters and doctorates there. There is racism. Apart from what our landlady said were "ignorant" Japanese and some crazy right-wingers (rare, but still occurs) the most common are discrimination against non-caucasians/whites. True story, there wwas a wanted ad for an English teacher, but between a brown-skinned Pinoy (with BS in English Literature) vs a white Spaniard (atrocious accent in church and while his English is passable, our Pinoy priest would rather converse with him in Spanish), guess who gets the job? The school will take the latter in order to maintain that "foreign ambience/vibe".

We have some Japanese language training (reading, writing, speaking and even typing), and can do "some" basic conversation or at least ask/follow directions, buy stuff, go to a doctor (our son was born there), fill out forms and read some signs. Still I think living and working in Japan is a big challenge, that this would be the last country in our mind to migrate to (visits are ok though). One needs maybe at least N3 at JPLT to even get a proper/decent job.

Thanks for the insight. Eye-opener for me. Have always wanted to migrate to Japan and even retire there, too.

I've also lived in Japan for a while and I realized that while it's a great country to keep going back to for vacation, it's not a very good place for Filipinos to settle in. What they said about the racism and Japanese preference for white foreigners is true. Then there's the language, which is probably one of the more challenging foreign languages to learn.

I believe Australia is the best place to migrate to, particularly Melbourne. Culturally diverse, economically stable, and overall offers a very comfortable way of life. Housing is very expensive though.

They have online assessment process. You need to reach a certain score to be qualified. Age, immediate relatives, technical skills and language proficiency is important. Some would require IELTS results.

Most of my colleague Im working with in Canada availed of the Provincial Nominee Program, the company spent for their legal fees which is way cheaper than paying for their airfare back to Phil 5 times a year.
Less than 5 years of waiting, they were able to bring their family to Canada. I guess finding a job in Canada is the fastest way to migrate there.
As for me, I didn't avail of it, I find home Phil more relaxing than living in there, maybe my kids will benefit if I move there, but not for me.

For Australia, a lot of nursing graduates go there for schooling, and work. My daughter is doing just that.
Although its not easy, Im still sending her money for expenses, as her work income is not enough to cover for everything.

    For racism, its everywhere,
But if you strive hard, they will learn to respect you.
I noticed, we Pinoys, unknowingly, are more racist than caucasians.

Interesting. My son is also planning on taking up masteral classes in AU, and work at the same time. Is your daughter living with families or on her own? If you dont mind, how much is needed to augment her income?

My friend were talking about this one and came up with the same conclusion.
