hi guys -
nasanay kasi ako sa AT. napapansin ko lang when i shift gears, i sometimes feel that sudden jolt. either when i shift up or shift down. i always try to follow the suggestions here at tsikot to try and shift at around 2000rpm and always fully depress the clutch.
do you guys press on the gas before you fully release the clutch? yung iba kasi yun ang turo. yung iba naman, to release the clutch before pressing the gas.
others depress the clutch for a time before shifting, yung iba quick shift.
yung iba naman, when shifting gears, they just half-press the clutch (as long as pwede na pumasok yung gear).
kayo how do you shift smoothly into the next gear?

ako di naman kailangan fully depress (as in sagad), pag naramdaman kong hindi na naka kagat ang clutch, shift gears. mejo timplahan din para di ka makaramdam ng shock. as you are releasing the clutch, apply gas.
baka lang masyado mong binibitawan agad ang clutch before you apply gas..

Clutch fully depressed or not, sudden lag comes from premature releasing
of clutchprior to acceleration. Sayang ang momentum, not to mention
the gas plus the engine stress it could create. Different engine responses
differ. Pakiramdaman mo and apply a sort of testing. From simultaneous
releasing of clutch at the same time pressing the accelerator (kung saan
sila magmi-meet depende sa clutch adjustment mo) or slightly delay the
clutch release in relation to acceleration.

ganyan din ako dati medyo napapaangat sa sandalan pasahero ko kc ang nasa isip ko di maganda na matagal ang apak sa clutch. di rin naman ok na parating quick release. kaya, tama ang mga suggestions nila... wag bigla bitaw ng clutch pero wag naman sobrang tagal.
kapag sinabay mo namn ang release ng clutch sa apak ng gas, medyo suave lang sa gas para di biglang akyat rpm mo. ang alam ko kc ang biglang taas ng rpm ay di maganda (tama ba ako?)

PRACTICE... that's all you need. You already know how to drive a MT so it just takes a little more time for yourself to figure out how to be smooth.
Don't shift gears at 2000 rpm, you stress the rods that way... for a DD just always shift at 3-3.5k, at least that's what's always been adviced... Also, rpm range doesn't have anything to do with smooth shifting, I could shift at redlines all day and I wouldn't feel a single jerk... it's just takes some getting used to...

ang style ko dyan,
before releasing the clutch pedal, try to match your rpm with the rpm nung bago mo pa tapakan clutch (your shifting rpm), then release clutch "gracefully", mga 2 sec lang yan.
ang theory ko (ewan kung accurate talaga), for smooth shifting, dapat pareho ang engine speed at speed nung transmission the moment they engage (release clutch)
pag mas mabagal ang engine speed at clutch engage, they will force to match speed of each other , thus slowing the transmission speed and in effect your wheels. notice also na tataas rpm mo since na-force naman siya ng transmission na tumulin.
dito mo mararamdaman yung parang sumubsob yung koste pagkabitaw mo ng clutch sa upshift. ibig sabihin kulang pa ang rpm mo. ganun din pag sumubsob ka sa downshift, kulang pa rin sa rpm (since kelangan mas mataas rpm mo sa lower gears at the same vehicle speed) or kulang ka sa preno at mabilis pa yung sasakyan
pag naman mas mabilis ang engine speed, the transmission (and wheels) will be forced to turn faster to match engine speed. dito naman yung mararamdaman mong very sudden na acceleration
basta dapat matched ang engine speed (rpm) at transmission speed.
wala ring rule kung ano dapat mauna, kung clutch release ba o tapak sa pedal
basta dapat matched ang rpm when engaging.
for smooth shifting lang to,
iba na ang usapan kung gusto mo humataw or mag-engine break

January 26th, 2007 02:46 PM #8tama sila wag mong gawin ang quick shift di maganda yan sa kotse mo,,maging praktikal ka kung baga suave lang ang gawin mo,para tipid sa gas,timing lang,try mo itanong sa kanila kung maganda ba na magshift ng gears sa 2000rpm and ano ang difinition ng gear ratio in relation to 2000rpm,dapat icheck nilang mabuti yun kung bagay ba sa kotse mo.

Like the rest said practice lang yan. What I do is I fully depress or 3/4 depress the clutch, then shift, then slowly release the clutch. It's a 1-2-3 step lalo na pag beginner ka palang sa M/T. This applies siyempre on level road. Pag medyo hanging ka na apply ka ng konting gas before releasing the clutch.
Once nasanay ka na at maging part na ito ng system mo puwede ka na mag experiment ng best style of shifitng that suits you. Just do the basics first.
