a/t transmission problem going uphill

Hello po sa lahat. need your help and opinion regarding my 96 honda civic a/t d15b. when driving on a flat road, ok naman po ang speed at shifting. pero when driving uphill pahirapan na. napansin ko lang po yung transmission di nagshi shift, it's completely stuck at 2000 rpm kahit todo na tapak sa gas pedal. any idea po anong problem? by the way i'm relatively new in driving. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks po

Uphill driving, could be that you haven't reached enough speed needed for the transmission to up-shift itself. Have it checked though just to be sure nothing is wrong with the transmission or engine.

I agree with ericbalajadia. A/t's rely on the computer box which are programmed to shift gears when you hit a certain speed. In my case (2000 Civic Vti) the shifting pattern is 20 kph (1st to 2nd), 40 kph (2nd to 3rd), then 60 kph (3rd to 4th). It could be that since you are moving uphill the speed is slower hence the transmission won't shift since it hasn't reach the desired kph.

para lang sa manual tranny, you will not shift to 4th or 5th gear when going uphill. sometimes nga sa 1st gear lang if it's a steep grade.

Thank you po Sirs for replying. Hmmm let me double check my speed again when driving uphill. So what you guys are saying is, usually around 20 kp/h, my car supposedly should have automatically shifted gears already?
Pero from what i could remember, todo tapak na talaga sa gas pedal, it's impossible that i havent reached 20 kp/h.

usually naman pag naka bwelo sasakyan from flat tapos paakyat na okay na yung speed. pero living here in baguio, di maiwasan stop and go sa akyatan.

in any case, if indeed my gears aren't shifting when i reach 20 kp/h does that mean that the culprit is the transmission? im just wondering kasi pag FLAT road naman no problem with shifting from 1st/2nd/3rd... problem ko lang talaga is going UPHILL.

my friends are saying that that it could be the transmission already, since di nagshi shift. pero maybe i'm just really praying and hopeful na hindi, cause if that's the case then my wallet would surely be dead.hehehe

ang masakit nyan baka na stuck sa 2nd gear yung transmission kaya on flat surface ok ang bwelo pero pag akyat hirap kasi sa 2nd gear nag start.. walang buwelo

sir yapoy, if that's the case, do you think kailangan na talagang palitan yung transmission? i havent tried going above 40kp/h, mainly city driving lang po kasi ako. napapa isip din tuloy ako baka hindi pa umaabot 3rd gear kahit in flat surface.hmmm

hindi pa tayo sure.. baka naman kailangan lang ng cleaning.. hindi ko lang matandaan yung may ATF filter ang honda sa loob ng transmission. try mo search dito sa forum.. madami possible problem like solenoid valve, wrong ATF, clogged filter

thank you sir yapoy for the ideas. sobrang nosebleed lang talaga when i read through the forums. ang hirap pa walang a/t specialist dito sa area namin, unlike diyan sa manila.

Hi,

makiki tanung nalang din po, bago po kc ko.
ask ko lang po, my nabili po kc ko na lancer AT model 94, mahina po kc ang hatak sa pataas pero pag nakabwelo ok naman po at wla naman po problema ang reverse, sabi po ng mekaniko na tumingin rebuilding kit ang kailangan, mahal po ba o mura ung estimate sakin na 21k kasama na labor japan surplus daw po ung ikakabit, please help kung meron pang ibang paraan maayos ung hatak. please help po kung my idea kau
