I recently saw unused Petron Gear Oil in our bodega. it says "recommended for manual transmission" didn't mention Auto Transmission.

can I use it in our A/T Differential Gear Oil?

it also says available in sae90 and sae140. are there thinner than 90?

first change oil attempt after 177t km...

look for the oil specifications for A/T in your manual. pag A/T transmission usually DEXRON II or III, MERCON, etc ang ginagamit. baka masira lang A/T tyranny mo if you used that kind of oil. A/T tyranny has more complicated mechanical parts compared to a manual one. and sae90 and sae140 are commonly used for manual transmission only. there's a special oil called ATF that must be used exclusively for A/T.

No AT use ATF. Don't put differential oil in it!

As stated earlier by 2Dmax, it usually Dexron or Mercon. Mercon is used by Ford. Dexron III is almost univeral as it is used by most (not all) other car manufacturers.

Still, check your manual on what is the correct fluid to use.

sa differential ko lang po gagamitin. sorry for the confusion...

    heto yung pic:

label says "recommended for manual transmission, limited slip differential..."

wala kasi mention auto transmission eh... is it still ok to use in a A/T differential?

and are there multigrade sold localy, specialy like 70w90?

*sir jig: I think some of us here use multigrade for engines including me, so I was thinking it will also benefit the differentials too..

The diff doesn't really know if a manual or a/t is ahead of it. Just use the correct gear oil recommended for your axle.

Some vehicles even share the same diff irregardless of whether they are M/T or A/T. Don't worry, the tranny and the diff do not share fluids.

The reason behind the 'recommended for manual transmission' is that diff oil is also used as the transmission fluid in manual transmissions (depending on application). Ibig sabihin nito, binubuhos talaga siya sa loob ng transmission.

tama si sir otep, it doesnt matter kung auto or manual yung trans kase most of the time, they use the same axle. at kaya may recommendation na manual trans yung gear oil kase eto din ang gamit pag nagpapalit ng langis ng manual trans.

yun naman tungkol sa multi grade and oil viscosity eto yung site

salamat sir Otep & sir Jig.

hehe... medyo obvious nga yung labels...

kaya lang medyo praning talaga ako sa hindi ko pa nasubukan...

maasahan talaga to si sir Otep.

manual says 70-90 is the advised range... hoping there's a multigrade sold localy...
