Not good pards. It lessens the balance of the car and adds to brake wear and brake fade. You can keep the car in gear pag downhill and it won't have any effect on your fuel consumption as you won't have much gas pedal inputs in that case. In my case with our cars that have a fuel consumption meter or vacuum gauge, the readings show the car to be running more efficiently when we decelerate with the gears engaged rather than free wheeling on neutral.
