    Hi guys!
    newbie here.
just got across this fun site 2 days ago.

    i drive an invecs2 lancer.
i rarely use the semi-manual/auto gear (katamaran).
my question is, would i be saving more gas using it than driving fully auto?

civics dont have L or 1 in their a/t shifter... some cars have L/2/D/N/R/P

What you do if you need added ooomp is to downshift.

How ? TURN OFF O/D , The A/T will downshift to 3rd gear then floor it , it might downshift to 2nd or if you have enough speed already the A/T will hold 3rd then you will see the Tach climb up to near redline (if it needs to) .
Actually even with o/d on, you can manually shift to L (or 1) and get all the acceleration you'll need.

Anyway, with the O/D on or off in my car, if the shifter is in D, the engine will never reach the tach's redline. It will shift around 4000rpm (redline at 6300).

nope. Just put in the D and overdrive on. To maximize milage, just keep a light foot on the gas pedal.

i'd stick w/ an A/T car, altough i drive a manual. if you need power, go get a car w/ a bigger engine. M/T cars are so tiring and stressful to drive nowadays given the traffic condition we have.

very responsive na mga new a/t's today. sarap talaga mag drive sa a/t. yung patrol ko na nga lang ang m/t dito kaya ayaw kong i-drive masyado yung previa, baka masanay ako at tamarin sa m/t

For me M/T pa rin although i drive an automatic. My observation lng is they are almost the same in acceleration basta ung car in motion na, pero kung galing from a stand still position malaki talaga advantage ng M/T.

Also i think that A/T uses more gas because its idle is around 1000rpm minimum unlike M/T which is ok at around 700rpm.

i might disagree on this, mas mabilis ang arangkada ng A/T kesa M/T. pero mas lamang naman ang M/T when overtaking.

A/Ts idle is at 900rpm when aircon is ON. 800 if off.

If only there were locally available A/T versions of GEN II 4d56 Pajeros...

But there were none, so tiyaga na muna with the manual.

nakakaboring for me. siguro pag nagkapamilya na lang ako.
sa m/t nakaka abot ako ng 14km/li
laking tipid din saken nun. estudyante pa naman ako. wala namana ko trabaho para magpagas ng magpagas.
    so m/t is my vote.
