Guys, need some advice regarding our 2003 Honda Crv automatic transmission. The problem is when the car slows down and downshifts to 1st gear from a higher gear, there is a jolt or shift shock. While accelerating, I noticed some noise when the tranny shifts from 1st to 2nd gear. Last year, I had an atf dialysis but using castrol transmax instead of honda atf. I brought it to our suking mechanic. He told me that this won't be solved by simple transmission overhaul. May mga clearances na daw kase. Replace transmission na daw eto. Any advise on what to do? Thinking of another dialysis using honda atf muna. By the way, the odometer reading of our Crv is already at 156000 km.

Honda uses their own proprietary fluids (ATF, CVTF, PSF) and their older AT trannies are quite picky with fluids. Not using such fluids may damage the tranny or power steering system. For older Honda cars, ATF change is usually done every 40k KM. Older Honda CVT cars require even shorter gaps (20k KM). Not being mindful of the fluid change schedule will not be good in the long term.

If you live near Cavite area, I suggest you go seek out Mel Casaba. He is quite well known among owners of Honda AT cars here in Tsikot. Seek out his opinion or any other mechanic who is quite well versed with the picky nature of Honda AT trannies.

If quezon city ka go to kaizen west avenue sanay pag honda yan. Parang bodega yung shop nya puro surplus.

Example sa meron ingay sa engine sa ibang talyer gusto palit agad tensioner bearing.

How many times have you changed your ATF when you got your hands on the car? It would be best if you can tell Mel Casaba a maintenance history of your CRV.

Oks dito kina Danny (D&R Fast Auto Sucat).
