noong naka-delica/liteace diesel ako, iniiwasan ko mag-overtake masyado and i do it pag naka-rekta na.. parang ba nagpalabas ako ng "smoke-screen" hehehe
pero sa maxima ibang story yun....Last edited by alwayz_yummy; January 23rd, 2009 at 09:58 AM.

wag mo agad tutukan yung sasakyan na gusto mo iovertake, maintain distance to about an imaginary 3 to 5 cars up front. Then maintain speed while judging as to when the opposite lane would be free from incoming vehicle. Based on your judgement and timing - slowly accelerate and draft towards the car you wish to overtake then pass at the right timing. In other words - timing - tantiya - bwelo - tantiya - overtake ...
tipid kasi momentum at timing lang ang gamit. di kelangan mag downshift..
kaso dapat sakto timing kasi you might end-up downshifting to gain torque for acceleration or better yet hit the brakes kung alanganin. Then try again.
sa akyatan naman, its a must to downshift before you pass.

since you need power to overtake, i think that the downshifting should be done prior to overtaking, and upshift, while in the middle. maintain the rpm.

Torque at speed is what allows the car to accelerate.
If you're below the torque band, you'll need to downshift in order to get back into the torque band and grab more power to pass.
If you're already within the torque band, just stab on the pedal and you should be off. If not then you can downshift to go faster.

February 10th, 2009 08:29 PM #19down shifting for me just depends on the situation, mararamdaman mo naman yan sa pagtapak mo ng accelerator mo eh,,.bakit mo pipilitin na magovertake with a higher gear if you cannot feel any boost of torque kapag tumapak ka sa accelerator, this time magdownshift ka para maramdaman mo ung pwersa na kailangan mo to pass the other vehicle in front,.,.,in shorter terms marunong ka dapat tumantsa,.,..,.,sa power ng sasakyan mo,road condition at speed ng sasakyang gusto mo lampasan.,.,.,
AT naman i agree sa sinasabi nila na release a little bit sa tapak ng gas then depress fully for much faster acceleration pero dahan dahan lang sa tapak para smooth pa rin ang boost ng torque,.,,.,.
in my case i can overtake nicely and properly regardless if AT man or MT ang dinadrive ko na sasakyan.,.,.,tantsahan lang yan
peace and drive safely,.,.,
