Most modern trannys will not allow you to shift back to reverse from 5th gear on any 5 speed manual gear box.

You could try if the lock still works by depressing your clutch while the engine is not running shift to 5th gear then lower it to reverse. The lock will not allow you to shift it until lever is shaken in neutral postion.
