and yet, he has ordered the lockdown of the big island.

    ...confusing messages...

    as i recall,
macarthur and patton both had the same belief.

    i agree.
we probably do the same thing, from time to time, without our being conscious about it.

    he's the president!
i expect him to stay in his office and/or be visible, during these trying times.

tama dok, kasi nakakahiya sa mga security guard, nurses, doctor, palengke man, saleslady basta mga people na lagi pinupuntahan ng tao eh mas vulnerable kasi araw-araw gabi-gabi.

Hindi lang refined si presduterte pero i like yung nangyayari.

    gumusut amige,

eh mahirap talaga.

Eh peenoise pa naman gusto to see is to believe

    actually,
i do not understand what you are saying.
you should really learn to speak more eruditely.
you might get your point across, more effectively, if you did.

ibig ko sabihin doc yung mga common tao lalo na yung mga arawan ang sweldo eh walang gaano pakialam sa virus kasi mas importante may makain for the day. So ini-example ko mga gwaridya, saleslady, palengke man kasi tuloy pa din buhay nila. The president showing up jan sa checkpoint border eh telling them na sama-sama tayo dito.

Yes. Nakakahiya daw gawin. Ayan ang resulta.

Painting himself as our savior, when it was his complacency that brought us here in the first place. Pathetic. Remember his famous words -- he'll just slap the veerus silly and that will be the end of that? Guess the veerus is laughing right now.

    well...
what non-medical person would imagine before this, that it would be this infectious...
aba, some would even believe now, that "ma-titigan ka lang, ay infected ka na..."

    but hey!
looking at our local infection graphs, comparing projected with actual...

maybe....but the writing was on the wall - china, hong kong, japan, singapore, south korea, iran, and even italy.

the president has always been surrounded by learned people, who i would assume, keep him informed of matters important to our nation's welfare. i mean anybody who watches tv and is internet connected would have been aware of the viciousness of the new plague. instead he had his glazy eyes focused on the abs-cbn closure.

you can just imagine if some pro-active measures were enacted last month. i reckon that allowance of weeks would have bought some time to arm our health professionals - such as yourself and my sister - w/ the appropriate equipment at the very least.

anyhow, doc, i don't really remember that much anymore, but was the anxiety as big as this at the beginning of the aids epidemic - in the freewheelin' west anyway?

I don't think so, it used to called Gay-related immune deficiency. But I guess straight people were not worried?

all new illnesses and scientific breakthroughs that somehow go against established norms, initially meet with skepticism.
science is full of such examples.
    the heliocentric theory, for one...
    the earth-as-a-pizza pie..
that liver cirrhosis is an incurable illness..
that men have more teeth than women! (un-believable!)

at one time, "gay bowel disease" was found in the index pages of respectable medical text.
the term has since been dis-continued, and a less-incriminating term is now in use.
"infections and inflammations in the lower gastro-intestinal tract of the immunocompromised."

All hubris and misplaced bravado. How can you expect the 16M to exercise proper hygiene and social distancing when their idol is ignoring all protocols?
