They don't usually jump in until the traffic lights are overwhelmed i.e. go na sya pero no space for more cars on the other side dahil naka-stop pa sa unahan. In fairness to them overriding the stoplights is not the main cause of the traffic jam. Traffic na kaya they step in to keep the intersection open.
