While SM Aura’s construction was ongoing, the BCDA questioned Taguig City’s commercial development of the area. Supposedly, the latter had breached certain terms on land use for exclusively public purposes. City hall debunked the BCDA claim, pointing out that the land titles and deeds of conveyance contained no such terms or annotations. SM Prime also won a Supreme Court injunction of the BCDA’s plan to retake and rebid Aura’s property for its own grand development.
BCDA is bitching because it had an unwritten agreement with the folks in Ayala that no other commercial center will be allowed in BGC outside of Ayala's developments.
Yun nga lang, it donated the property occupied by SM Aura to the City of Taguig without restrictions whatsoever on the title, so whatever so-called "illegality" being cited by BCDA has no basis. Eh merong construction permit, occupancy permit, mayor's permit, etc., so paano nila sasabihin na illegal?
BCDA is run by amateurs.![]()
BTT:
Bet their butts are a-hurting with what the Taguig LGU and SM did to them. In the end, I'll bet it's SM - Taguig for the win on this against Ayala - BCDA.
It is because of SM policy of asking for every increasing product listing fee, merchandizer fee, display shelf rental, seasonal support for promos, etc. All of that is paid on a monthly per store basis which adds up to millions of pesos annually and usually ends up with the principal ending up earning nothing... (all goes to the pockets of SM).
