    Must have jinxed myself somehow.

Was headed south around noon. A truck dropped its load of galvanized sheets taking C5 Pasig Boulevard SB flyover down to one lane

On the way home this afternoon another truck blew a tire taking the northbound lane of the same flyover down to one lane

Still went through it though because Google Maps was saying it was 10-15 minutes faster than EDSA

    the GI sheet missed you?
you did not run out of fuel, and the aircon was good?
you got home in one piece?
    you're not jinxed.

yesterday, i was driving someone to diamond hotel.
we took roxas blvd. traffic was terrible!
i turned taft-ward, into a crawling alley, finally got to taft, and drove my usual route to DH, that is, not roxas blvd.
what normally takes me 30 minutes, took me two hours yesterday.
the others who did not turn, probably took much more.

haha thanks for the comforting words, doc d.

When you're in the thick of unscheduled traffic (and the 5pm coding time is approaching) it's easy to get antsy.

I remember one time, I was at C5 Ortigas Ave flyover SB, mga around 4:50 PM na yata nun and it was my coding day. No choice kundi pumasok na lang ako sa tiendesitas at doon nagpalipas ng coding. Napagrocery na lang tuloy ng wala sa oras!

It took me one hour for 4 kms kanina. Google maps estimated 20 mins with traffic (usually less then 15 mins lang) but then the estimate kept on getting longer. Palpak Google maps this time

google is good for the time the info was wired to it.
but it does tend to change, sometimes dramatically, with the passage of time.
it all depends on the changing information wired to it real-time.

On the contrary, its working exactly as it should, updating the information as conditions change.

lately, during the few weeks that i northbound skyway-d at about 7-7:30 pm,
the queue to the tollgates had been exceptionally long... i estimated a 20-30 minute queue.
    masyadong mabagal ang tollgates...

It's like that everyday doc. The only question is how long the queue will be at the toll gate. Every ****ing day.

    last week, i went ground-level.
i thought the travel time was pareho lang, compared to had i skyway'd.

so how can the operator improve skyway, kaya?

toll holiday for the month of july ang whole stretch ng coastal road. kaya pala maluwang kanina ang mga usual log jam spots.

primary reason is to create awareness for the newly opened connecting roads that links w/ the cavitex. iyon lang iyong mga mukha ng mga usual suspects na mga
    politiko nakapaskil sa toll booths.

The Skyway cannot handle the volume anymore.

Yung exit ng NAIAX laging siksikan. Pinoy drivers don't care about lining up properly, mas gusto pa makipag-gitgitan from the outside lane para mauna sila.

The Skyway Alabang entry rfid scanners are still dumb. Lalong tumagal ngayon kasi you really have to stop and wait for the scanning. Defeating the purpose of an rfid.

Traffic!
