Ok pa L300FB or H100. Or Urvan Bubble-top Cargo or Grand StarEx seatless config is around P1.15-1.25M. Add less than 100k to add bench seating.

Urvan cargo interior. Hindi naman siguro abutin ng 100k to add in bench seating.
Agree. Even the UV express vans seat more. 15-18 including the driver. I don't know why they feel there is a need to make something else and call it a Jeep when there are already suitable replacement options available. If those are still too expensive why not just give tax breaks?

Nostalgia perhaps? Or may kumita na naman ba dito?

This is what you get when officials are installed by padrino and not by expertise. They don't know what to look for.

Dapat italaga jan ay mga namamasada at pumapasada. Alam na alam nila yan.

I wonder when these officials last rode a jeepney or non-aircon bus.

This "puwede na yan" attitude of our government has been around since the post-war era. I often wonder what it would take to fix it.

When we pass the anti political dynasty bill. That will help.

(my family used to be in the public transport business)

IMO, current lockdown is hurting a lot of small PUV operators (1-5 vehicles), those with bigger fleets will only expand...

Or hopefully, gov't can push for the modernization of public transports...

    history.
back in the 60s, there was this auto calesa (AC), a jeepney limited to only 3 passengers per row. if it could accommodate more than 3 passengers per row, it was labeled PUJ.

    ^

with the driving style of our PUJ drivers... I'm guessing 6km/l

but whats the current fuel consumption of local jeeps?

the C240 is a NA 2.4L engine - mostly used by Sarao
4BA1 (I think( is 3.3L - another common engine used by 20 seater jeeps

I'm sure in the end, FC will be same, only issue is the smaller capacity
