hirap kasi sa gov't. agencies natin, ang dami ng new technologies available pero pag di sila kikita di nila embrace. like what M2 said a rice grain sized RFID can be easily hidden in different locations in each car para mahiapan talaga hanapin ng mga carnaper yun.

nabasa ko sa isang news paper, the Philippines is trying to go high tech, trying to implement electronic voting, e-passports, computerization of all agencies, to eliminate red tape and corruption but it's ironic that all these efforts to embrace technology is plagued by corruption and red tape the very things they are trying to eliminate. only in the Phils.

technology is existent and available na sa tin at hindi rin ganun kamahal pero ayaw implement. yun lang computerized voting eh. after matapos na lahat at magastusan saka i-jujunk? imagine na-evaluate na yun at pumasa sa mga evaluators pero junk pa rin... bakit kaya?

good idea but not nice to implement. ano nalang magiging itsura ng mga private cars, puv narin? at uukitan ang body? nah come on BF, onting gasgas nga nakakaloko na eh, ukit pa kaya. CASA ba gagawa nito o cheapipay na latero lang ng LTO or MMDA? goodbye sa rust proofing at welcome kalawang!!! this is insanity. tsk tsk police visibility would be better.

this is much better. di sa pagyayabang, but we used to have this as a thesis project during college days. nasa aking pa until now un prototype. mas madali manghuli lalo na pag walang RF tags ang suspicious vehicle.

I already have etched side mirrors and front and rear windshields (the most expensive pieces of glass on most vehicles today). Baka naman dapat visible from 50 meters away ang gusto ng MMDA eh medyo lokohan na ata yun.

I'm not really for this proposal. It just shows how stupid and weak our enforcement agencies are. If they just enforced the proper use and display of license plates then this wouldn't be a problem. Then start training their men to detect mismatched license plates and cars (X plates on a 1970's car, there may be a good explanation but at least enforcers know how to spot).

What then would prevent criminal elements from just buying a replacement windshield/mirror or to just look for other sneaky ways to replace the mirror/windshield of a carnapped vehicle?
Nothing. But it would still be a more practical idea for them to steal a vehicle without etching. It's the same as having a steering wheel lock. It's not theft proof but why would the thief bother when the exact same vehicle a few cars away is not equipped with one.

LTO's hand-held database device is already in place anyway, it shouldn't be hard to check the legitimacy of the vehicle as well.

It all boils down to how reliable the LTO database is in the first place... which it isn't.

But RFID tags would be a great idea. I think architect was also talking about how inexpensive this was before... in fact, he figured you could equip most of the major parts of a vehicle with RFID tags to help discourage carnapping.

this should cause an uproar from the motorists.
ayusin na lang muna nila ang mga traffic lights nila pati mga kalsadang ginawang obstacle course.
kasama pa ba sa sanction ng mmda ang carnapping? over naman to. gusto lang nilang mapadali trabaho nila sa color coding.

i agree. mmda stands for Metro Manila Development Authority. Crime is a police work and mmda is not authorized to do this. iyon ngang mga traffic enforcers nila ay walang mga baril, the reason why they cannot assist if there is a crime happening. further mmda services are restricted to the following: Development Planning, Transport and Traffic Management, Solid Waste Disposal and Management, Flood Control and sewerage management, Urban Renewal, Zoning and Land Use Planning and Shelter Services, Health and Sanitation, Urban Protection and Pollution Control and Public Safety – which includes the formulation and implementation of programs and policies and procedures to achieve public safety, especially the preparedness for preventive or rescue operations during times of calamities and disasters such as conflagrations, earthquake, flood and tidal waves; and coordination and mobilization of resources and the implementation for rehabilitation and relief operations in coordination with national agencies concerned. (http://www.mmda.gov.ph/main.html)
