Does this put additional / unnecessary stress on your vehicle?

Right now, am parking on a downward incline in our office. I usually let the front wheels touch the wheel barrier softly then pull the handbrake.

On an upward incline... this should put stress on the brakes right?

should be ok...that's what they are made for after all.

resting the front wheels against a wheel barrier is a good idea. if there is a curb, turn your front wheels into the curb to relieve some of the pressure.

follow-up to mazdamazda's question, how about sa suspension? dito naman kasi sa basement ng building namin, karamihan sa parking ay inclined at pag mag-park ka, sideways - meaning yong left or right side ng vehicle ay lower than the other side. so hindi balance ang load ng suspension, and that's 5 days a week, at least 8 hours a day. isn't it causing undue stress sa one side of the car?

    thanks for pointing that out.

am also worried about the stress on the suspension components. especially that am parking on an incline at an angle (which in my opinion puts the most stress on the rightmost front suspension).

ang isang suggestion sakin specially if yung sa bangin banda, like sa tagaytay...

pull the handbreak release brakes etc... then pagpatay mo ng engine tsaka mo ipasok sa 1st gear, just to make sure na hindi gagalaw ang car..

ang prob nito eh tulad nung sabi sa isang thread, pag nabangga ka buong makina mo sira

I usually engage 1st gear kung upward ang pag-park sa incline. Kung downward-facing naman ang parada ko, I leave the reverse gear engaged. Does this help?

Ito rin po ang ginagawa ko. Pag nakapark ako upward incline, I shift the gear to 1st + handbrake. Pag downward incline naman, naka reverse ako + handbrake. Turo ng tatay ko.

Diko alam na posible palang masira ang makina pag ganito.

    Bogeyman,

will make no difference. the gears aren't spinning anyway, so any gear will be the same

Ah, ok. One time kasi I tried parking downward on a really steep incline. I engaged the handbrake and tried leaving the vehicle, kaya lang napansin ko na gumagalaw pa rin pababa. Since hindi ko maiwan yung sasakyan para maghanap ng pangkalso, I engaged reverse gear. The vehicle stopped moving. Since then ganun na yung ginawa ko whenever inclined yung parking.

I think there will ofcourse be some stress on your pads pero they are definitely rated for that, otherwise, how can they handle kung totoong hard breaking na?!

Don't worry about leaving it parked sa isang incline for long periods, I don't see any problems with that, kahit na sa suspension hehe kasi kung ikaw nga kayang pag-tiyagaan buhatin ng sasakyan mo eh ano pa yung naka-incline siya, hindi naman full weight ng vehicle ang nakapatong sa left/right wheels or front/rear wheels... maganda rin yung naka Park (P) ka or naka-engage yung gear, added protection yun just in-case something happens to your hand-brake.

basta step on the brake or engage the handbrake first before putting the tranny into P hehe... if not, all the weight of the vehicle will rest on the park detent and you'll have to push the car a little to relieve the weight to be able to shift out of park hehe

tama si sir MBT, ako rin ganun :-)

NOTE step on foot break, gear to neutral (N), engage the handbrake, let go of the foot brake, then slide it into park (P).

Ang sakit sa loob kasi kapag narinig mo yung malakas na metal-to-metal na tunog kapag naka-rest pala sa gears mo yung car!
