parking in front of one's property is really annoying, may incidente na ganito na nauwi sa massacre ng isang buong family sa cavite. it is really a very serious matter.
So stressful. If I'm buying a house I'll make sure the road is wide enough so there are no parking issues (not that I will leave my car outside)

Neighborhoods with wide streets are either expensive (i.e. Green Meadows) or very far (i.e. Laguna, Cavite).
For many people, they don't (or can't) factor in the cost of adding a garage, or moving to a house with a garage.
Madali sabihin na, "edi wag sila bumili ng kotse". But when faced with the option of enduring long lines, pickpockets, transports strikes, and catcallers, commuters who could otherwise afford their own car (auxiliary costs notwithstanding) would most probably get one. Sans strict implementation of a law against street parking, there's no stopping them.
Water is persistent, it will flow where it can. Dealing with street parking is certaintly more convenient than communiting.

In our village we are probably in the minority. We bought a vacant lot and turned it into a garage. We share the garage with a relative who lives next door. The only time we are parked on the road is when we have parties. Guests are the ones who will have to use street parking.
Even for my business I never use the street for loading/parking. We have a loading bay and ample parking for customers.
I don't blame other people for not having enough parking on their property as there aren't really any laws against that yet, but on our part, we don't want to inconvenience anyone.
The average family here has 2-4 cars and can only park 1-2 inside their lot. The road is wide enough for two sided parking but when a big truck has to pass (firetruck, septic tank drainer, etc.) Only one can pass at a time. Clearly something has to change.
nakakarelate ako dito mga sir...sa subdivision namen, 10 units kami na magkakatabi at dead end sa dulong kanto namin so sa 10 units na yun, 3 with motorcycles and 4 with private vehicles including me. an adventure, avanza, fiesta and G4 mirage which is mine. katapat ko ang kapitbahay ko na "naka ford fiesta na" kasi binenta ang luma nyang Vios recently. we are both considerate naman sa pagpark kasi kung sakaling mali ka ng parada eh di na kakasya ang motor papasok sa dulo namin...nasa gitna kasi kaming 2..the hassle part lang is pag lumabas ang adventure, madalas ako ang nagbibgay though right of way ni adventure is kalsada kung saan nakapark si Fiesta.
My personal take on "Parking in Front of the House"
If you live in a public road (ehem like Dapitan, I remember my college days) please be considerate and find a proper parking spot.
If you live in a private subdivision/village, no issue (as long as the homeowners allow it)
rule of thumb.
if it is a public road, and there is no law that specifically allows parking there... "no parking". period.
so why are our public roads lined by parked vehicles? because there is no enforcement.
Thankfully none of my neighbors leave their cars parked overnight at the street.
2 houses away from our house there is a huge tree with shade and it's the favorite spot in our street pag tamad magpasok sa gateButi hindi naiinis yung owner ng house and the house across it.
This is quite common among subdivisions inside BF Homes Paranaque. On our street, those cars that will not fit in the garage are parked outside the gate or in front of the house. If your house has a long front adjacent the street, then you can have as many cars parked in front as long as you don't park at your neighbor's side. We just practice courtesy to allow some space for vehicles to pass by.
on public roads, there are places specifically mentioned in the rule book, as "strictly no parking at all times".
this includes: 5 (or is it 6?) meters from corners and driveways, bridges and approaches to bridges, fire hydrants.
there is even a law against double-parking: not allowed at any time.
it would be a good idea, if private subdivisions adopt these in their areas of influence.
