LTO to implement RFID tags

Some car tints have a metallic layer which can block radio signals to and from the RFID tag. This is why the LTO requires the tint be cut-out when installing the RFID tag.

The TRO in the case filed by concerned parties against the DOTC and LTO to stop implementation of the RFID should be issued by the court shortly. While I don't doubt the intent, I doubt that the LTO has the authority to impose such fees for a project that has never received proper approvals from NEDA and other agencies.

Aba, ewan natin kung makakapag katiwalaan ba ang mga law enforcers na hahawak ng mga RFID reader na yan! Baka isa sa mga hahawak diyan, ehh carnapper, lilitaw pa naman addresses and car owner name doon, madali hanapin sa NSO address natin niyan. PAKTAY KA!

Since VKool tints use metal particles in their tints, placing the RFID behind the tint will block the signal.

If our cars are newly registered, do we wait for the registration to expire before we get RFID tags? What is the rule here? Hassle yan if everybody has to line up to get RFID tags at the same time.

onga pala, pano kaya sa mga bagong sasakyan, since multi-year ang initial registration nila. if so, then LTO's so called plan to have all vehicles tagged with RFID by the end of this year won't materialize din pala. hay, ang gulo talaga ng sistema nila about this RFID.

Yep. That's what the article said.

Marquez said vehicles owners who have been charged by the LTO for the installation of the RFID stickers can seek reimbursements since the Court's order is to restore the situation prior to its implementation.

i don't think those who already paid the RFID's will get a refund even the "project" will be terminated..

That's not what the LTO said. Even new vehicles (meaning those with 3-year registrations) have to get their RFID tags by October of this year.

Good thing the SC stopped this insanity from proceeding.
