Ah nuts, you're right. Thanks. So much for the brighter side...jeepneys will live forever at this rate.

We can expect an underground market of collision parts (fenders, hoods, trunks, doors, lights, glass...) from junked B- and R-plate cars to flourish. The body shells can be sold "por kilo" or turned into artifical reefs. Engines and ladder frames can't be commercially traded so they're ripe for "por kilo" as well.

Any CEZA plate owners here tried renewing their car's registration with LTO after the SC ruling?

For me, I still have to wait until September since 9 ang dulo ng plaka ko.

Around 6 years na.

me pila kanina sa LTO ng mga Port Irene vehicles na ending is 2. they were turned back by lto for renewal. two of them went back to the dealer at doon nakipag away, ayun sinoli naman ang pera kahit 8 months ng nagamit yung unit.

yung dealer, sinara na agad ang shop.

Let the fireworks begin. Kupalan nalang din yan on the side of the dealer to close shop and avert losses. Tago mode na yan.

I was just salivating over an M5 station wagon with B plates a few days ago.

My fearless forecast is that LTO will "condone" the surplus cars already in private hands and will continue renewing them. It's just too impractical for each LTO agency to deny renewal based on the prefix (B, R, Y...) and examining differences in year model vs. 1st registration. It's also an invitation to corruption.

Besides, I'm sure there are powerful people who bought surplus cars that will influence government policy at the department & bureau level. Hell, I've even seen some red-plate local gov't vehicles that are obviously surplus, ex. Mitsu Jeep J23, Delica,..

    Cheers

Ambulances and vehicles used for public service and business (cargo/delivery, firetrucks, etcetera) have long been exempted from the ban.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
