this law is self-explanatory, in the sense that it is already crystal clear to understand, hehehe

Violations Relative to Equipments, Parts, Accessories, Devices and Markings of Motor Vehicle as per LTO Fines and Penalties:

29. Operating motor vehicle without head, tail, plate and/or brake lights >>> 300.00

why give yourself a hard time viewing the plate at an angle when you can always see it in front & at the back.

IMHO lang po!
ah yes sir...

I do agree that viewing the plate on the left and on the right is really hard than viewing it directly from Front and Back...but leaving the way it is when it was given to you by the LTO is the safest way to get around any argument from crocs.. as i mentioned..im not the one who will negotiate and will pay the fines

Model, make, Color?... well... that is not the only car that was made by your car maker right? distinguishing marks? still hard to look on it because they can be removed or improvised.. especially when you are in a rush..

first instinct will be looking at the plate number..

i also noticed..if the plate is dirty with ashes, mud...etc.. it will still reflect..and still readable without the clear plate cover..

if the clear plate cover is on with dirt..it wont..and less visibility

having more ways to see the plate is better than less... IMHO

agree w/ you on this observation unless:
..... we're talking about brand new cars w/ no plates yet- distinguishing mark is the Conduction Sticker (not easily remove) front & back but can get rid off for a purpose (bad-hope not)...in a rush to improvised/removed something is possible but difficult in a tight situation,
..... second hand cars that have their plates taken off for suspicious intent then going back to basic of vehicle description.

i also noticed..if the plate is dirty with ashes, mud...etc.. it will still reflect..and still readable without the clear plate cover..
who wants to have their plates dirty, i for one am not...

if the clear plate cover is on with dirt..it wont..and less visibility
at least the cover/protector gets the dirty job not the plates itself and if ever the cover gets blurred/obscured due to lengthy period...time for replacement na lang, hehehe

having more ways to see the plate is better than less... IMHO
having more ways to preserve and protect my plates is better than making it vulnerable to dirt, rust and harmful elements of the environment

just sharing my thoughts sir

this is prohibition is vague, indistinct & debatable...not only for me but also to others who valued their prized possession - our cars w/ their protective ID ..

I hope you get the chance to explain your well thought-out excuses to a traffic enforcer/MMDA very very soon!!!

No problem with your thoughts...keep it your way ...I'm not the one who will issue you a ticket anyway...

ang point ko lang naman eh...kung may nahuli na with this violation...bakit naman hindi mangyayari sa iba ...

- pardon sir but its not a well-thought excuses but rather a justification on its usage which i could explain politely to the very, very soon traffic enforcer...

- may i also suggest that if we have (i hope we dont) a tsikot member here caught w/ this violation, kindly share your experiences...for the benefit of those for and those against...

OT: - we all have each other's point, opinions & beliefs and i would greatly appreciate it if we could exchange ideas, learn from that lesson and leave it that way, peace lang po but thanks anyway bros.

originally, sa makati, ay di puwede ang lahat ng plate covers. pero eventually, pinayagan na ang clear.

sa makati ang pinaka mahigpit sa pagpapatupad ng batas.

i use a clear cover plate na tempered glass. from my own point of view (and i think tama naman) di naman affected yung visibility ng plates, kahit gabi. the reason i put this cover is that these "law enforcers" do fail to protect us against thieves who either steal license plates or stickers.

sana lang di din ako hulihin, pero sa aking palagay wala naman violation dito.

And I am really against these people using smoke screened or colored plate covers, they really are hiding something.

pero sir, if a certain vehicle had a violation hindi mo naman ito titignan from its sides di ba? syempre po lalagpas ito from your front and thus you will clearly see its back and then, using a clear plate cover, kitang-kita na po, tsaka kahit walang cover kung sa sides mo lang titignan, mahihirapan ka pa ring makita, just my opinion sir, correct me if i'm wrong...

we can not always control the conditions wherein we have to read the license plates. for example, in hit and runs. the absence or presence of these gadgets, may spell the difference between identifying the vehicle and not identifyling the vehicle. it's really that simple.
for this reason alone, i believe these gadgets should be banned from use.

License plate cover, is it illegal?
