Tip: Operating a vehicle is very different in Driving a vehicle. Try to remeber that.

    Ok?

nung kumuha ako dati ng non-pro, yung answer key binigay sakin na ng facilitator ng written test, pag-aralan ko nalang ito dahil ito rin daw tatanungin sa test mismo... so yan yung ginawa ko... pero kahit hindi mo makuha yung kodigo ay common sense questions lang ang lalabas sa test. wala pang 10mins, i'm sure tapos ka na. just be there early nalang to avoid the hassle of lining up. after that, pakita mo mga docs mo (birth certificate, drug test, etc.) after which atras abante ka ng owner na jeep. then kukuhanin ka ng photo pare sa temporary ID tapos bayad sa kahera para makuha mo OR pati yung license. HTH

pakicorrect nalang kung may mali ako nabanggit and kung may kulang. salamas! :D

try to remember yung mga rules of right of way, road courtesy, etc. pati yung mga traffic signs. i'll be sending you a brief course, maybe tommorow. tamang-tama yun ang ginagawa ko kasi nagtuturo ako mag-drive sa utol ko. ok ba yun? expect something tommorow. ok?

Some of the answers need common sense...if not, then all... Kahit bata siguro na aspiring racers/drivers masasagot yan! Hehe! ^_^

Yep. The test is basically composed common sense type of questions. To make things easier, multiple choice pa. To make things even more easier, the wrong choices are written in a way that would immediately let you know that they are wrong.

    A typical example:

    When entering a rotunda:
    (a) I should go to the inner-lane
    (b) I should go to the middle-lane
    (c) I should go to the outer-lane
    (d) I can go to any lane

I took my test back in '96. I don't know if the questions have changed since then.

    GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!

as promised. tama sila, common-sense, but beware, sa lahat ng common sa mundo ang common-sense pianaka uncommon. anyway, here is the short primer. i'm still working on the full length article. it should cover the basics of defensive driving.

    Right of Way:
Intersections – collisions often occurs on an intersections, blind corner or not. This is for the most part due to the misapprehension and unawareness of the ‘right of way’ rule. Generally, the right of way has is observed in the following situations:
The ‘first-time’ rule pertains to the vehicle who have first reached the intersection has the priority to cross.
On an intersection with or without traffic sign: Yield to the vehicle coming from your right side that has approached the intersection before you. Proceed with caution after the vehicle has crossed or when the road ahead is clear. However, if you reach an intersection with a vehicle coming from right side of the road at same time, the other vehicle shall have the priority to cross otherwise observe the ‘first-time’ rule.
Making a left-turn in an intersection with or without traffic sign in a one lane street: Applying the same concept of ‘right of way’, always yield to the vehicle coming from your right side. When clear, proceed with caution, thus completing the turn. On some cases, roads have two or more lane configuration. Apply the same concept as discussed above, but always take the innermost lane of the road, upon completing the turn. “U-Turn” also applies the same principle.

Hint: whenever possible, have somebody (actually, other vehicle) to “shield” you as you cross the intersection.

    Round-About:

Round About or Rotund is also one form of an intersection in a circular path. Using the principle of ‘right of way’, always take note that the vehicles approaching are on the opposite side (instead of right side), otherwise proceed with caution and slowly work your way in/out to take the preferred lane.

Note: Always signal your intentions clearly before attempting to make a turn.

Merging Traffic: Like an intersection, the “Right of Way” and “First Time Rule” still applied here. Most often, merging intersections are found in highways. Always keep right and slowly merge with the traffic as you accelerate smoothly. Never try to swerve into lane abruptly, even when you are operating a vehicle that has enough horses. At high speeds, a second can spell the life and death situation.

Note: Do not depend on your rear view and side mirrors alone, whenever you can take time to turn your head briefly on the lane you’re going to, to check out if you missed out something.

Lane Change and Passing: Changing lanes should only be done when the road ahead is clear enough to pass the slower vehicle, after passing get back into the line as quickly as possible but again SAFELY. It is true that excitement do come in small packages by way of overtaking, but should you endanger life- your and others, that is what we call ‘irresponsible’. So when is ‘overtaking’ becomes unsafe? Always place a high regard on the median line. The ‘double solid’ yellow line means no passing for both sides at anytime because it is hazardous even when the road is clear. You will always see this on the sweeping curves on the highway. As for the single yellow line, it means no passing when not clear, but it depends on the position of the line. If the yellow line is on the side nearest to you, it meant that you can cross to the other lane. However, if the yellow line is on the side opposite to you, you cannot cross to the other lane.
The white solid line means passing is permitted provide that there is no other vehicles ahead. While the white broken line means the same.

So you have now the basics of overtaking, but you might wonder when will be the best time to get back on the lane? Too soon or too late, is always dangerous. Upon passing check the right side mirror, if the image of the vehicle’s front can be viewed completely, it is the best time to get back in line. Do not overtake under these circumstances:
    · Uphill
    · Blind curves
    · Intersection especially a blind one

Note: Always take caution when passing, and signal your intentions clearly. It was always illegal to accelerate when being overtaken. Never overtake on the right side of the road, because this is always a ‘blind side’.

Proper Distances: Distance is always essential to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of you. How to measure a proper distance? There are two ways to check if you have a proper distance from the vehicle ahead. One is the ‘two-car length’ distance which proves to be difficult to measure especially when a vehicle is running. But there is a simpler way; the “3 seconds rule”. To measure this, determine a reference point from the vehicle ahead and yours, i.e. the streetlamp post. When the rear end of the vehicle ahead passed-by the reference point (lamp post), count 3 seconds, after which you are supposed to pass the same reference point. This is done at the speeds of 60 Km/h and it dramatically increase as the speed gets faster. Why do this? The rationale behind is to have an enough braking distance in an emergency stop or simply outmaneuvers the vehicle ahead (only if the road is clear, front and back).

Parking: Parking properly is one road courtesy that should not be forgotten. Aside from parking properly, there are some places that are illegal to park such as intersections and fire hydrants or any place that has a “No Parking” sign. With exception to the “No Parking” signs, there is a specified distance in an intersection or any fire hydrants which is legal to park; and that is 10 meters away. One side parking is almost always encouraged, but not on both sides. Parking in an uphill or downhill? When parking in an uphill road, always point your wheels away the curb, while on the downhill the wheels should be pointing towards the curb. Whenever you can park as close as you can get to the curb, but never rub the sidewall of the tires or severe damage could occur.

Remember: Safe driving is about anticipating what would happen next, not anticipating in an instant should anything arise.

will send you the document via email. oh by the way, don't worry about failing your exams because you have repeated subjects. review lang ang kelangan mo. review as in familiarity ba. when you read, read thrice. before you knew it, you'll be getting high marks.

    PANIS yan.

...Easy as it may be.... it's still amazing that there are people who barely pass or even fail the test.

When I took the test, the LTO official called for a 30 min break to check the answers. Afterwards, he called our name while announcing the scores. Mga 20 yata kami noon. Believe it or not, may mga bumagsak.
