DOTr PRESS STATEMENT
21 August 2020
This is to clarify that the DOTr IS NOT PROPOSING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A TOLL ROAD ALONG EDSA
This is an idea/concept suggested by various stakeholders, but has not been formally discussed yet by the present DOTr administration.
According to DOTr Road Sector Consultant Asec. Bert Suansing, this suggestion was initially raised more than a decade ago, during the time of former MMDA Chairman Benjamin Abalos.
The DOTr welcomes suggestions that will improve mobility and order of public transportation. However, a suggestion does not translate automatically into a proposal nor a project for implementation. Like any project, it has to go through the proper process.
We hope that this settles the matter.

i guess it's a "if they build it, they will come" mindset for rsa.
i think the plan of dotr is to eventually scrap naia and shift its existing operations to sangley in cavite for southern peeps and the proposed airport in bulacan for northern metro residents . wala ng room for expansion kasi daw ang naia and during the pre-covid19 era , the paranaque airport complex was literally bursting at the seams kaya puro delayed ang flights.
although now that air traffic has decreased exponentially, plans have been shelved temporarily...but the train of change is still moving though. it's been reported nga that smc is about to break ground in the proposed bulakan site anytime soon. probably w/in the year mas lalo na ngayon na proven na delikado iyong original parameters ng bbb program ng gobyerno.
isap pa, nag w/draw na ang metro pacific sa "naia super consortium" w/c was organized to rehab naia. so maybe the writing is on the wall na for naia.Last edited by baludoy; August 28th, 2020 at 01:50 PM.

San Miguel seeks to finalize Pasig River expressway, Quezon-Bicol tollway projects with gov't | ABS-CBN News
The proposed Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) will be a 19.4-kilometer elevated tollway that will traverse the length of the Pasig River from Radial Road 10 in Manila to Circumferential Road 6 in Taguig.
San Miguel said PAREX can be built in 36 months under a 30-year build-operate-transfer scheme. PAREX is expected to reduce travel time between R-10 to C-6 to just 15 minutes and directly connect the western and eastern cities of Metro Manila.
The Quezon to Bicol tollway, dubbed as South Luzon Expressway Tollroad 5 (SLEX-TR5) is a proposed 420-kilometer road between Lucena City and Matnog, Sorsogon. The Lucena City to Gumaca segment of SLEX-TR5, spanning 61 kilometers, was approved as a tollway by regulators.
Once completed, the whole SLEX-TR5 is expected to reduce travel time from Lucena to Matnog from 9 hours to 5.5 hours, and connect major urban centers in Quezon and Bicol.

Mahirap yata pagpiliin ang mga international airlines which airport to use. Hindi pwede yung meron sariling airport mga taga South, and ibang airport naman sa mga taga North. Masyadong magastos para sa airlines to fly to 2 different airports in the same destination. Doble i-hire nila ground crew, etc.
And if ever matuloy nga yang dual airport system, PAL will definitely use Sangley, while Cebupac will make Clark as its hub. Anong matitirang local airline sa Bulacan? AirAsia nalang.Signature

i suppose jan na papasok ang govt regulations and incentives para ma-encourage mag service ang mga international airlines sa 2 airports. and not to mention market forces na din kasi ang sangley airport is expected to service the whole of southern luzon. as you know, big business will always follow big money especially na umabot na pala ng 60+ million ang populasyon ng luzon island.
ang problema baka magkaka sakit ng ulo ang retooling ng sangley airport kasi ang macro asia ni lucio tan, together w/ a chinese company ang tanging nag-iisang nag-bid lang sa development ng cavite city based airport ay may posibleng hadlang na haharapin. the chinese company tan teamed up with, china communications constructions comp (cccc), is going to be punished by the usa for taking part in the construction of the artificial island in the West Philippines Sea. apparently, it's a chinese state company disguised as a private firm and sanctions aimed at them may cripple them in the future.
but cavite seems to be dead set on developing sangley international airport. they're eyeing to mimic the tax breaks, incentives, and build-operate-transfer deal congress and the bulacan lgu gave smc.Last edited by baludoy; August 28th, 2020 at 08:38 PM.
