hmmm, i always thought that when that time comes, they'd recycle old plate numbers -- cguro they'd start using plate numbers from cars that have gone unregistered for 10 or so years

interesting...couldn't find any stats for the philippines with a websearch, but the US had 221 million registered vehicles in 2000 - or like 0.75 for each person in the US.

i know the philippines is a less wealthy country than the US, but aren't there 70 million filipinos or so?

that 70 million also includes people who don't drive cars, and people who can't afford cars(like me)

yesh, dat's true...but the 300 million americans also includes those who don't drive (like kids). i was just trying to estimate - even if 1 out of every 7 filipinos have a car (including businesses, jeepney drivers, etc), then that's already 10 million autos.

does anyone know how many automobiles are in the philippines?

i don't think even the lto has an exact number on how many automobiles are in the philippines.

i remember way back when our plate numbers had 2 letters and 4 numbers.
