Another transport strike set on Sept. 25-26 - CNN Philippines

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, September 18) — Another transport strike is planned on September 25 (Monday) and 26 (Tuesday) to protest the government's gradual plan of phasing out public utility jeepneys (PUJs).

This early, Magno apologized to the public for the inconvenience the transport strike may cause.

"Kaya kami nagpepresscon na ngayon para mapaghandaan Ito ng gobyerno at publiko," Magno said. "Ang importante maipahiwatig namin ang mga hinaing sa jeepney phaseout."

Stop and Go coalition held a transport strike last February 6. They claim, only big companies can afford to replace vehicles.

Traffic was unusually light on EDSA NB/SB from Makati to Ortigas. Ortigas Ave and Shaw were free-flowing. Left the car with the wife in Makati and commuted home. Luckily our jeep route did not join the protest

almost 10 years ago when i was debating with jpdm and other e-jeepney advocates

i told them e-jeepneys won't take off until diesel jeepneys are phased out

no jeepney operator in his right mind will choose e-jeepneys over smoke-belching diesel jeepneys

it has to take political will to phase out oil diesel jeepneys to make way for new jeepneys (whether electric or euro 4 diesel)

but phasing out old jeepneys is unpopular and potential political suicide (kasi anti-poor ang dating)

almost 10 years after those debates, we're finally seeing political will to phase out old jeepneys

rehabilitation of this diesel jeepney. just like rebuilding its body and still same old diesel engine. Hanggang me corruption sa government it will never happen. Sa LTO palang e lusot na yan basta me padulas ka.
