IMO stick to stock and replace often. Yung mga platinum and iridium will last longer but if you can DIY it stock will be cheaper in the long run.

Dun sa 15-year old Toyota ko, Denso OEM since Day 1.
    Ok naman after 71,2xx kilometers.

Hehe.

Matipid pala talaga ang Vios. Very frugal to maintain pa. Guess my choice wasn't bad.

I mean para malaman yung engine temp? Parang useless na rin ngayon kasi bago pa naman yung kotse so chances of overheating is close to none...

    *Chikselog:

    I use prestone sa Corolla.

    *CB:

Ya. I don't think the Vios needs one. Unless abuso yung owner.

Replaced at almost 10k kms. Pwede pang gamitin yung luma pero better change to the new one na. Nasa 80 pesos lang naman each.
masama daw kasi matatapon yung gas and walang space for the pressure change sa loob ng gas tank. but we do it every other full tank to prevent rusting ng spout.

i guess i'll just stick to OEM plugs. san kayo bumibili?

renzo, yung vios namin, 5 years na. wala naman problem with temperature. i guess maintenance lang kailangan. and check fluids regularly.

According sa friend ko naka vios 2008 wala naman sya prob. diskarte nya pag start ng auto my icon na temp cool wait daw na mawala ito bago sya umandar at saka mo buksan aircon. medyo sensitive daw aircon ng vios sabi nya. Temp ng aircon nya nasa gitna lang daw hindi nya binabago (nakakatulong daw ito to save gas) pag sobrang init at need nya taasan temp pinapatay nya aircon tapos tataasan temp saka bubuksan ulit ito tip sa kanya ng isang mechanic from toyota dubai.

Thanks for this tip. Ako kasi paiba iba ng temp. Minsan 10 o'clock, pag uminit, 2 o'clock etc.. Di pa nalilinis aircon nung sa amin at wala pang cabin filter. Wala pa budget eh. Less than 35k kms na tinakbo. 4 1/2 y/o.

This might sound stupid pero paano ko maddrain yung coolant reservoir? And what's a good brand of coolant to use next?

ours is a 1.5G 2007 Vios. first 2nd gen na lumabas sa dealer. after the launch night nilabas agad. I remember that day nung sinundo sa skul yung kapatid ko pinagtitinginan ng mga tao yung vios nun. head-turner pa yung vios nun pag may nakakakita sa daan. ngayon...kakasawa na. sobra..haha.

initial plan noon is FD. kaso biglang 3 na agad may FD sa Family. kaya my dad settled for a vios para maiba naman. I must admit na pag nagdrive ako, gustong gusto ko parin ng FD. lalo na pag nakikita ko yung malapit sa amin na white 2.0s na naka modulo kits and ducktail w/ modulo mags.. pero bumawi naman yung vios when it comes to reliability and maintenance. the 3-year warranty for our vios was useless.hehe. been to floods, rough roads, hit by a bus which made my fender look like a crumpled paper, wala parin. recently lang meron nasira. after 110,000kms, nearly 5-years later, the magnetic clutch for the A/C compressor died. sirain daw yun sa toyota sabi ng DENSO mostly innovas. then yung front shocks nasira, stress siguro from my 17" wheels. replaced with OEM parts, back to normal.

for maintenance, its cheap to maintain. even a student can maintain it. my bill for the X5,000 intervals were always 1,700 - 2000 on CASA using toyota regular oil.

Hehe. Kung nag-FD ka, you'd always wish that the maintenance was comparable to a Vios, or an Altis the least.

Mahal kaya magmaintain ng FD, tensioner, engine support & handbrake lever broke down on me and I'm still at just 50k+ kms then

*JohnM: Haha. Funny thing is, I had a quite similar reaction. Earlier this summer, I was looking at the Honda City 1.3S I must admit, I was impressed by the looks. Sabi ko, haha... this is no normal vios blah blah di pang-taxi blah blah. You know, your typical guy stereotyping about Vioses. Pero dito rin pala ako nauwi. Hehehe.
