TVSS is made by different manufacturers depending on who the Toyota contractor is at the time. On older Revos, it was made by Alpine. Not sure now who makes them for Toyota. And OEM alarms are easier to defeat because once you have seen one, you'll know that the rest are installed and wired the same way. But some consumers are being threatened with the 'we will void your warranty' routine so they are forced to bite the bullet even if sometimes, the items that the dealer will install are the same items that are being sold in Banawe (e.g. Esuse or DLAA foglamps for units not so equipped). Believe me, if your engine siezes, they will not blame your alarm. When I was doing claims for another vehicle brand for suspension failure, the other mods (alarm, audio system, communications gear, etc.) didn't stop them from honoring my claim.
Siemens makes the immobilizers for Nissans (this is just trivia. hehe).
Anyway, most name brand alarms in the market today, when properly installed will give you years of reliable service. And most are inexpensive to boot. Entry level vehicle anti-theft systems start at Php900.00. We just put different brand systems on different vehicle units thieves will not 'memorize' how we secure them.
Most guys here know who does my electrical work. Madami na din silang Vios na nagawa. Mostly for our med rep friends. Other units didn't even have central locking to begin with.
