Jabra BT620s headset $30+ (Amazon) >> PhP7,500 (Trinoma)
Panasonic Lumix FZ12 $260 (Amazon) >> PhP28,000 (Trinoma)
Sony Alpha a200W $550 (Amazon) >> PhP42,000 (Sony Phils.)
Now do the math. These things end up twice the price or even more here! Believe me, I've seen a lot of products at Amazon.com that anyone can buy at half the cost of buying it here in the Philippines. And what about cars? Check out USDM SRP's of Porsche or the UKDM SRP's of Nissan. You heard me right, Nissan UK! Their 350Z retails a bit below GBP27,000. Which translates to PhP1,960,000!!! And how expensive is the 350Z in the Philippines? Only PhP3,200,000. Don't worry, I did my homework on these things. No wonder a lot of people resort to smuggling.
(Buwaya na gobyerno + buwaya na negosyante) x (foreign SRP) = kawawa tayo.
