    LOL!

good looking crossover, 4agze. i think it won't be available locally thru TMPI but the gray market dealers will surely bring in some units.

Hehehe... malayo nga ang itsura ng Venza sa Avanza... the Venza is a Crossover type, the Avanza is an MPV-type. The Venza looks way better than the Avanza, but the Avanza looks way better than the Innova pa rin. :bwahaha:

Chery has the A5 Crossover yata.

when i was looking at the spec and pics of the Toyota Avanza, i found something funny, why is the corolla 1.8liter Php1,035,000.00 or $23,000. thats very high for a corolla, thats a camry already lol. why is the corolla in phil. expensive? i mean last oct my friend just got a 2008 corolla XRS for $12,500 out the door.

^ because Toyota phil is ripping us off :D I'm also wondering about that since corolla's are locally made (cheaper labor). Japan corollas are made in japan (expensive labor) yet it's around 3/4 the price of our corolla.

cars in Japan are way way cheaper than cars here in the philippines. For around P1.5 m you can already get a lancer evolution there, plus all cars in Japan are made in japan. Same is true with the US.

^^ AFAIK, the current generation of Corollas are imported from Thailand. I don't know if Toyota started assembling Corolla units here. As for the Philippine-made models, I think it's only the Vios and Innova.

^^^ still the vios is 750,000 pesos or $16,000 thats still a lot for something that was made in phil. my vacation in phil. i spend most of my time in a vios and i dont think its worth $12,000

but i was surprice that a toyota matrix is not also sold in phil. i think this will be good in phil. i bet the XRS AWD 6 speed 1.8 liter 2zzge version will be good with you guys.

Taxes people. Not to mention non-existent consumer protection. Everything in the Philippines is expensive compared to developed countries like the US, Japan, or even Europe. Now, you wouldn't want me to list every product in the PHDM that's overpriced. But I will list a few.

    Jabra BT620s headset $30+ (Amazon) >> PhP7,500 (Trinoma)
    Panasonic Lumix FZ12 $260 (Amazon) >> PhP28,000 (Trinoma)
    Sony Alpha a200W $550 (Amazon) >> PhP42,000 (Sony Phils.)

Now do the math. These things end up twice the price or even more here! Believe me, I've seen a lot of products at Amazon.com that anyone can buy at half the cost of buying it here in the Philippines. And what about cars? Check out USDM SRP's of Porsche or the UKDM SRP's of Nissan. You heard me right, Nissan UK! Their 350Z retails a bit below GBP27,000. Which translates to PhP1,960,000!!! And how expensive is the 350Z in the Philippines? Only PhP3,200,000. Don't worry, I did my homework on these things. No wonder a lot of people resort to smuggling.

(Buwaya na gobyerno + buwaya na negosyante) x (foreign SRP) = kawawa tayo.

Agree..but these are luxury items.. not necessities.

If you compare the prices of rice, gas and other essential items, mas mura pa rin dito.. I would rather tax the rich heavily than tax the poor on basic items.

Para hindi OT, ganda ng Venza. hope they bring crossover vehicles to the Phil.. more practical than SUVs. Rides better too.

Count rich people. Their taxes alone cannot suffice the requirement that the country needs. It won't make sense to tax 5% of the population when the other 95% don't pay up. But then again, they do pay up through the VAT and what else. Hence, "luxury items" (including cars) if you like to call it that are overtaxed and only accessible to the rich few whom I described earlier, cannot provide enough revenue for the government. IMO government top brass have no idea about efficiency of anything. Maybe except their gains. This is too off-topic. I'll make a thread about this.

Hmmmm...I saw the XRS on Gran Turismo 4. This has the same drivetrain as the Corolla right?
