if the prime user target drives on the right side of the road, then the factory tools up for LHD. they 'modify' a smaller percentage for RHD costumers, keeping modification costs to a minimum, hence the 'incomplete modification'.
if the prime user target drives on the left side of the road, then they do the opposite.
alas! japan, indonesia, and thailand drive on the wrong side of the road. RHD sila...
as an aside,
i noticed that many of the local 60s beetles have their windshield wipers designed for RHD.
i find this strange, because germany is a LHD country...
our own family beetle had RHD-design wipers, but was manufactured in germany (according to the body etiketa).
