September 7th, 2015 10:28 PM #11051Hi, di na makagalaw ang aking innova. Everything is OK except it won't budge an inch when I attempt to move forward or backward. CMIIW. Dumaan kasi ako sa flooded street (pasong tirad in makati) and it caused the problem.
Questions:
Magkano kaya estimate damage?
What else do I need to do to prevent further damage ( E.G need ba under wash?)
May iba PA bang need ipacheck sa mekaniko?
Lessons learned:

the trick is prevention:
1. iwasan ang lumusong;
2. gumamit ng high quality replacement parts. riveted versus glued.. they have pros and cons.
magkano brake pads/shoes? depende.. magkano kaya mo?
heh heh.Last edited by dr. d; September 7th, 2015 at 10:48 PM.

September 7th, 2015 11:08 PM #11055maraming salamat sa very helpful info doc. upon researching, mas cheaper ang brake drum setup kesa sa brake discs. most likely naman ang papalitan lang is brake shoes which upon checking sa suking olx eh cheaper kesa brake pads so kaya naman. hehe unless nadamage ang buong brake drum assy.
another car knowledge learned by experience.

VVTI Innova owner here and naka 215/55/17's ako. na try ko narin iakyat ng baguio un with 7 adults and 2 kids and a lot of baggage. sa kenon road din ang daan namin paakyat and pa baba. sa observation ko, mas stable siya at hi speed (hi way) and mas konti ang body roll after ko mag upsize. also i don't feel na underpowered ung gasoline variant paakyat sa kenon even at full load. ang pinaka gusto ko sa gasoline fed innova ay yung behavior nya at highway speeds. wala kang maririnig na engine noise and mararamdamang vibration. mas mahal di hamak ang pump price but for me its worth it.

It happened after tge car was left standing for more than 24 hours.

September 8th, 2015 01:18 PM #11060my apologies!
i forgot to mention the more common cause of "frozen brakes" syndrome..
the shoes stick to the inner walls of the drum, when they dry overnight with the handbrake on.
it's not difficult to disengage these, although it may pose as a surprise to the un-initiated. with the engine running, shift rear and first gear alternately, rocking the car, to loosen the sticking shoes. bibigay din yan. but be prepared when it does, so as to avoid cracking tita's prize boungainvilla's paso..
